You say you are a Christian in your post. While that is an interesting subject you raised, and I'd love to reply, Christian Forums rules, however, forbid discussion of this subject you raised. End of discussion.

New Discussion:
I can offer general help to others wondering about how one becomes a Christian (in conformity with forum rules): Just being a member of a church does not make one truly born-again.

To be a Christian one must be born-again. That requires more than saying a creed or being baptized as an infant. In fact those things are not the same thing at all. All men and women need to repent, confess that they deserve hell, that they are powerless to do enough good to outweigh their bad deeds, and the only way they can get to Heaven is by a sinlessly-perfect Someone Else taking the punishment they deserve. Only God is capable of doing that, and He did! Forgiveness is free for the asking to the one who truly repents and believes.

Hi, LovesTruth!

I'm another Christian who is fully open and accepting of homosexuals and same-sex marriages. I'm a bit curious about your post - you go off on how Christian Forums won't allow you to discuss a certain topic, and then talk about how one becomes a Real Christian. If this is meant to be a roundabout way of trying to call a fellow member's Christianity in doubt, then I'd advise you not to attempt it. I am fully aware of what it means to be a Christian, and luckily my salvation is in the hands of my savior Jesus Christ, rather than anyone on these boards.

You can try making an argument for it being just discrimination, which you seem to be trying to avoid.

How could it not be discrimination to say that people cannnot marry because they are homosexual. I would consider that discrimination just as people are not allowed to marry animals, though that is obviously just discrimination.

They'll probably come back and say that homosexuals CAN marry, they just can't marry someone of their own sex. I can't count how many times I've heard this ridiculous statement, and it doesn't get any more acceptable and convincing no matter how many times it's repeated. If the people who said such things actually stopped to think about the implications, they'd surely have to stop using such an unconvincing and discriminatory tactic.

I'm not even sure it is discrimination to be honest.

Stop beating around the bush. Explain to me why it should be illegal for gays to marry. Be sure not to base your response on religion, since that would be incompatible with the US Constitution.

Yes! Lets not stop til we have rights for theives, minors, etc.
Everyone has rights, does everyone deserve a right to marry?
Thieves have the legal right to get married…as long as they are heterosexuals.

You are comparing an individual who may have some of his rights forfeit because of an action (in this case an individual breaking the law) and the denial of equal rights to an entire minority not based on any individual deed or merit but rather your own personal prejudice.

I know I feel like I am talking to a wall here and I do not exect any non christian to understand.
This Christian doesn’t understand.

Please explain to me why we as a country should ignore the constitution of the United States…particularly the part that says all have equal protection under the law… and engage in discrimination against an entire minority?

Being black is not a sin or unnatural.
Neither is being homosexual.

since when does this country use your personal interoperation of what is and what is not sin to deny a minority equal rights?

They wanted rights as human beings, which they certainly deserved and got. Gays have rights as human beings.
Blacks always had rights…just not equal rights

Homosexuals have rights…just not equal rights

I know. I want everyone to have the right to be president! its unfair some of us don't get to be.

Poor analogy as every one born in this country has the equal opportunity to try to become president. Gays and lesbians are still working towards being equal to everyone else

Marriage, by definition, is a union between a man and a woman.

Natural. Would someone trying to eat by putting food in their ears natural?
In this country not so long ago it was defined as between people with the same skin colors.

Did that fact that marriage was once defined as exclusively between members of the same race make discrimination against interracial couples good or moral or just?

The New Jersey Legislature passed a bill granting legal recognition to same sex marriages making New Jersey the fourth state to provide for equal rights for gays and lesbians.

Gov. Jon Corzine said he would sign the measure

What? :o Then you are prejudiced against Homosexuals. See that word "except" in your post?
Okay, if I was to say paedophiles should have the same rights--except being around children--as non-paedophiles, am I prejudiced against paedophiles?

No baby - there are LOTS of us Christians who support gay marriage.

Add another one right here.

And I have come to the conclusion that LovesTruth's posts are satire. At least, that's how it makes my, and any other intelligent persons, brain stop hurting.

Are the homosexuals the last group left to be unequal? After that, everyones rights are the same?

No, but what does that have to do with it?

The point I'm trying to make is that gay marriage is wrong, just like paedophilia is wrong. Paedophilia should not be allowed, and gay marriage should not be allowed.

Paedophilia is wrong because it hurts someone else and their is a victim and perptrator. Equal marriage has 2 consenting adults, thus not hurting anyone else.:) Laws are based on reason.

Unlike pedophilia there is really no reason against it besides religion. Yet religion is not a valid source for getting laws if religious freedom is to be valued.
