Sounds to me like someone's confused --- I'll certainly pray for you.

Hardly confused, really.

I'm kind of happy actually that I've finally relinquished my role as "God" and no longer classify people as whether they are saved or not. Quite frankly, who goes to hell or to heaven, God is the only one who knows. To assume that much means we are putting ourselves in the place of God, which I think, is a mortal sin.

The greatest evangelist is Jesus. He condemned no one but loved everyone who was determined to love him until the very end...that's why Peter became one of the greatest apostles and why Judas Iscariot failed.

It is only through love that we will get Christ's message across. Condemning others that many Christians do absurdly well isn't what I think Jesus wanted his followers to do.

Just because I am not following the status quo means I'm confused. It actually means I'm using the gray matter between my ears that God gave me. I mean following blindly isn't really that Christian if you think about it. Wasn't it Jesus, afterall, who broke all the norms that the Jews got so upset about? The Lord didn't discriminate at all. In fact he was often found with "sinners" to give them hope and encouragement, not to tell them that they were doomed.

 Sounds like Raffster did what the LORD commanded and I believe what he spoke had a lot of Truth to it.

Revelation 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven saying, "Come out of her, My People, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues.

Thanks a lot, LittleLamb. I'm really hoping that everyone can start seeing that all religions have Truth in them. It's really the only way that peace on earth can finally become a reality.

So much violence in this freaking world and if you really think about it, the underlying current that generates all this hatred (terrorism, in particular) is intolerance for differences in faith, particularly by extreme fundamentalists across all religions.

I do not see why and how it is difficult to co-exist harmoniously in a world where we all have differences in taste for faith and religion. The present Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso (Tibetan Buddhist leader) once said "I feel that if everybody in this world are Buddhists, it would be a very boring world. I'm glad there are people of other faiths as well who are capable of showing compassion."

Today I'm removing my religious tags. I am now just a seeker.

The sooner we can comprehend the simple truth of just simply loving one another and looking beyond our differences, this world will finally have real peace.

Peace to one and all.

I love it. If I wasn't in a state of spiritual turmoil, this would be my thought pattern.

Raffster,
In one way, I think you are on the right path. Love is the greatest commandment from our Lord. However, it is not the religions of the world that hold the truth, but Christ. The greatest deceptions are those that hold a "bit" of the truth in them.

It is not which religion is right or wrong. It is not which Christian denomination is right or wrong. It is simply Christ. Be a disciple of Christ, a true one, and in that, you will find the only truth there is.

Please remember that Christianity is the only religion that forgives sins rather than causing the individual to "work" towards Heaven. The truth is that God loves us enough to forgive us. Yet, in His infinite mercy, His infinite justice must be satisfied as well. Christ died for us, not so that any and all religions could be right, but so that through Him, God's love and justice could BOTH be satisfied.

To discard the label of Christian in lieu of the label of "seeker" is to make the sacrifice of Christ in vain. I do understand. I turned my back on the Christian "religion" for 23 years. The things I saw Christians say and do made me sick. What I have learned since is that I have to keep my eyes on Christ. Forget everyone around me and what I am doing, and simply concentrate on Christ. It means loving my fellow Christians even when the ugly horns of hypocrisy shows. We have to forgive one another. In our weakness, we are made strong through Christ.

Instead of walking away from your faith, or embracing ALL faiths, think of this revelation as a gift from God. Pray over it. Why has God shown you this truth but allows others to remain blind? Is it so that you can teach other Christians the true meaning of being a Christian?

Defend the defenseless. Defend the faith. Defend the truth. Speak forth the truth my brother, but do not turn you eyes away from the Truth, the Life, and the Way.

Love in Christ,

Lisa

Hi. Well, we better learn to as we all share the same planet, and there isn't much chance of escaping it [unless you can afford to pay for a shuttle ride to outer space]. :)

Hi Raff, Thing is, to call oneself a believer in the Christ one has to believe the Christ. And what the Christ says in His Word. I cannot for instance be a Universalist and a Christian, as Christianity points to One Way-- Christ. If I actually believe the Christ, then, I cannot believe any other way. I must know and not question my beliefs, if I question then I do not fully believe. There is no room for doubt in ones relationship with Christ. Not saying as people we we never question. But one must Trust Him fully to follow Him completely. There is no room for hate here, but either you believe or you don't.
Be Blessed,

Hi midnightbirdgirl,

If I actually believe the Christ, then, I cannot believe any other way. I must know and not question my beliefs, if I question then I do not fully believe.

If you do not question then you do not exercise your God-given gift to reason and to think. This is what is clearly defined as "blind faith." Is this really how Jesus wanted his followers to follow him? Or is it more because they actually see that He is what He claims He is, not merely because He said they should follow him?

There is no room for doubt in ones relationship with Christ. Not saying as people we we never question. But one must Trust Him fully to follow Him completely.

I do not doubt my relationship with our Lord. I doubt, however, the intention of many "Christians" and how they have not followed Jesus' commandment to love. I am going through a very turbulent time in my life (a very recent divorce) and if it wasn't for my faith in Jesus, I doubt I would have made it this far.

Finally, trusting Jesus isn't a matter of memorizing Bible verses and reciting them. It's a matter of looking at the whole "spectrum and range" of Christianity, believing it because of what it is, and applying it to one's life.

Godspeed,

Raffster

Raff, I agree, no one should have blind faith. Having faith in Christ comes with understanding the Truth and the Gospel. I never said otherwise. I understand you are hurt, and frustrated. I too am tired of the often misuse of the word "Christian"...it has been so diluted it has nearly lost its meaning. I agree with your above post, no need to get defencive.
And I am glad you have not lost your faith, it just really sounded like you had from your first post.
