Please forgive me if I offend anyone ...

But I just heard this song on the radio yesterday for the first time ever. It's by George Thorogood. It's so HILARIOUS. He talks about putting off paying his rent and stuff.

Please excuse my crudeness. I don't even drink, nor want to. But, DANG, this song was so funny!!!

Have you ever heard it?

Do you listen to secular music?

If so, what?

Well, I still like Bocephus, and he sings a lot about booze and women. I don't like that part of his music anymore, but there is something in the music that my spirit still identifies to.
Also love Alabama, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Merle Haggard, Bobby Bare, Charlie Rich, Dolly Pardon, Earl Thomas Conley, John Conly, ect...
Am I bad?

Yeah, I think it's safe to say that anyone who likes that much Country is "bad"..... "to the bone". ;) jk

Should I repent? Actually, I don't listen all that much anymore. My wife seems determined to rub out any hint of my backwoods, hillbilly upbringing. Not working that good on the inside, though.

Yes, I remember that tune. Very funny. It's actually an old John Lee Hooker blues standard from the 40's or 50's. My wife got me a John Lee album a couple of years ago (I love blues music -- Eric Clapton, Colin James, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jeff Healey).

Other than that, I really like Creed, Third Day, 100 Portraits, David Crowder Band, Delirious?, old Led Zepplin, Doobie Brothers, Collective Soul, U2, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Bruce Cockburn, Jars of Clay, Resurrection Band (Rez), and 70's P-Funk.

Nope
Garbage in garage out. :p
Its kinda of hard to renew my mind to what God says if I am listening to the world's opposite views.
And as one preacher says

"I don't sing those songs anymore
Like born to lose of the life before..." ;) ^_^

Amen to that too, Sister. I do agree, probably is not the best thing you can do to help let the old man die.

Man, Robby, are we related or something? We have a lot of the same DNA about a lot of things. My wife and I just got back from our blues vacation to Memphis (we visited BB King’s club on Beale Street) and the Delta Blues Museum in Clarkesdale MS where legend has it that Robert Johnson sold his soul to the devil at crossroads of Hwy 61 & Hwy 49.

On the day I was booorn. The nurses all gahthud 'round. and dey staired in wide wondah.....at the joy they 'ad fo'und. the head nurse spoke up......say girls leave dis one alone....she could tell right away......iwas bad to the bone......bad to the bone......b-b-b-b-bad.....b-b-b-b-b-baad......BAD TO THE BONE!!!

Yeah, I listen to a lot of secular music. I find that there is a severe lack of talent in the christian music scene. I know I know there are a few good people. but by compairison the christian music scene is terrible. all full of mushy mushy songs with poor theological lyrics and no imagination in the harmonies or melodies.....not to mention most christian bands can't jam.

But anyway. I am not "hatein'" on my brothers and sisters in Christ, I am just explaining why I find myself needing to listen to something with a little more talent from time to time...

I actually do enjoy the song - not for the lyrics so much as the musical talent.

I do agree with the earlier poster. There is a serious lack in visible and audible talent when it comes to Christian music. I'm not sure if it's legalism that holds these musicians back or what it is....

It's very hard if you are a music lover like myself to just not listen because it's secular music. After all not all secular music is garbage. Not all lyrics are singing about sinful practices. And non of us are going to be 'damned' because we choose to listen or not listen to secular music.

HAHA yes this song is very hilarious and I love it. I love the song "I drink Alone"...I love when he's like "Just me and my good Buddy Wiser" LOL I just find that funny.

I really love Classic Rock. My 2 favorite bands in the entire world are Queen and Led Zeppelin. I just absolutely EMULATE them. Queen (particularly Freddie Mercury's voice) drives me to tears...especially "The Miracle" and "Innuendo". So amazing! You have good taste in music...God Bless!!!

I totally respect your decision 100%, but I think that saying all secular music is garbage is a huge encompassment of every single song out there. There are many beautiful songs out there (particularly older classic rock songs) that are not garbage, and actually have God-fearing messages. Some really great songs!! Although, I guess their lifestyles werent all that great...but Thou Shall not judge. :) God bless!

Ok.. confession time...

While, as a general rule, I absolutely HATE country music, every once in a while a song comes along that I just really like the music.

While it's not the song in the OP, there is one that came out a year or two ago that I really love. I know it's not a good song (especially for a priest), but I love the music to it.

For those of you who know country music... the song starts off
Turn it up some
Alright boys, this is her favorite song
