I use tracts personally. I want to speak directly to others, but I'm on the shy side.

I admire those who do though.

I was leaving tracts around the school. Initially I felt nervous, like I was doing something wrong, but after that, I felt a sense of peace.

Do you ever feel like that (if you use tracts)?

I haven't left tracts at school before, but I'm reading a lot of apologetics to be able to defend my faith. (Leaving tracts would probably result in a debate for me because I go to a relatively small liberal arts-type magnet academy and anyone who knew me would know who left the tract...)

I have, however, left a tract at work and I try to leave some regularly on trains and buses. I, too, am a tad on the shy side and I'm trying to read the apologetics and pray for courage so that I might learn how to witness aloud, so to speak. One time that was really cool, I printed out a tract that was the size of a small book and put my church's website and service times on the back. I hope He makes use of it in someone's life. ;)

God bless you all in your efforts to work and live for Him,

Lissa

I witness at school everyday. People look at me and know that im a Christian. Some of my close friends now what my calling is which is to be a preacher. So i carry my Bible to school with me everyday and i witness to people. The question I ask the people i witness to is: if you die tonight where would u go? Would you go to Heaven or Hell? Preach it sista! LOL!

I am not enrolled in school, but I do go to the university for brother and sister. I drop off tracts and also little pamphlets from www.persecution.com for a free book offer about christian persecutions in the religious studies building. I try to put them in places that are not annoying the school officials. And I see other tracts around the campuses too, and even at the Walmarts, there's christians working :)

It's hard to talk when I am always with my little son, one time we were talking to someone, and my son started throwing a fit. so, I just do what I can prayerfully.

and I know it is hard to witness verbally, Rita727, tracts are great too :) Even the bible is like a big tract, in a sense

I try very hard to witness at school, but I'm on the shy side as well and am quite fearful of speaking to people about God. When I do, though, I will sometimes use tracts and sometimes not. I'm still debating in my head on whether I should or not. But I don't rely on my lifestyle to "witness" for me, because that will save no one.

How shall they believe in Him whom they have not heard? -Romans 10:14.

I agree with Lissa....
I have a friend who is always, and i mean always tlaking about God. She refused to study macbeth because it mention witches in there. Anyways, i've had a lot of her friends come talk to me because they think if they become a christian that's how they're going to have to act. I am forever telling them that it's not.
If you are always happy and have a good life people will ask you how you do it. That is when you can tell them how awesome God is.
If you tell your friends about God when they don't want to hear it and they end up getting offended, is that honestly what God would want you doing?

This was kind of what I was talking about, and although I certainly don't mean to argue, this is definitely something that's crucial enough to argue about.

Some people don't feel right about studying a book like that, and I think that is a decision that should be left up to her conscience. In Paul's day many people did not want to eat food sacrificed to idols or eat meat, and Paul said that that should be left to their consciences.

If you are always happy and have a good life people will ask you how you do it. That is when you can tell them how awesome God is.

Does this really happen to you? I have never had anyone ask me about why I live a "good" life, and anyone who has asked me about my faith in God have done it after I've witnessed to them.

If you tell your friends about God when they don't want to hear it and they end up getting offended, is that honestly what God would want you doing?

Absolutely! Do you think the Pharisees wanted to hear Jesus preach to them about God? Do you think the people who stoned Paul wanted to hear him preach? That didn't stop them! I haven't met anybody who's wanted to hear the Gospel, because they don't see why they need a Savior because they've never been explained their sinful state before a holy God--that they've broken His laws and deserve hell. I'm ashamed that I haven't been more bold myself in declaring Christ to strangers.

I know--I'm not at all saying that we should be Christ-like and display the fruits of the Spirit to everyone. But people seem to rely on their lifestyle to witness for them rather than actually telling people the Gospel and how to get saved. The Bible says that the law of the Lord converts the soul, not your lifestyle.

Pasat, you also said that when someone would be drawn to you by your Christ-like love, you would tell them how awesome God is. Where is this in Scripture? Did Jesus ever say things like this to unbelievers? He preached judgment and the law. Anything in Scripture about God's greatness is said or shown to believers. Even when Paul was converted by Christ's direct revelation, it doesn't say that Paul felt love--no, he was terrified! Why? Because he knew that he had no right to be in the presence of such a holy God. And the sinner should know that too.

people that I have spoken to have said that people preaching to them and offending them is putting them off christianity. when I tell them I'm a christian (most know anyways) they ask questions like why don't I act like taht. They find it a lot more easier to approach someone who isn't pushy with their beliefs.
That's my opinion anyways. I just don't believe offending people is going to convert people.

I wish people would ask me why I am "saved", but alas they do not, and I believe it's my fault actually. My actions do not reflect those of someone saved and it kills me inside. Romans 7:14-27 always reminds me that I am human and that it's natural but I don't like it.

14 We know that the law is holy. But I am not. I have been sold to be a slave of sin. 15 I don't understand what I do. I don't do what I want to do. Instead, I do what I hate to do. 16 I do what I don't want to do. So I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, I am no longer the one who does these things. It is sin living in me that does them.
18 I know there is nothing good in my sinful nature. I want to do what is good, but I can't. 19 I don't do the good things I want to do. I keep on doing the evil things I don't want to do. 20 I do what I don't want to do. But I am not really the one who is doing it. It is sin living in me.
21 Here is the law I find working in me. When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 Deep inside me I find joy in God's law. 23 But I see another law working in the parts of my body. It fights against the law of my mind. It makes me a prisoner of the law of sin. That law controls the parts of my body.
24 What a terrible failure I am! Who will save me from this sin that brings death to my body? 25 I give thanks to God. He will do it through Jesus Christ our Lord.
So in my mind I am a slave to God's law. But in my sinful nature I am a slave to the law of sin.
. Romans 7:14-27
