Just a quick question. As a Christian, if your Christian Brother needs help are you required to help him?

Sure we are, if you were on the other foot, wouldn't you want help? I believe we are required to help a fellow Christian brother and not turn our back on them.
Of course I may not know the whole circumstance, whats going on pal?

yep, using the analogy of the human body...if one part of the body has a problem, you have to treat it or the infection might spread to the rest of the body.
Besides, the basic command of Christ was to love your neighbor. We should do all we can to help...it is our duty, plus it is a privelage.

Yes! These are a few scriptures on how we are to treat our Christian brothers and sisters...I know that there are many more.
Matthew 7:12 "Do for others what you would like them to do for you. This is a summary of all that is taught in the law and the prophets."
Mark 2:31 "The second is equally important: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' No other commandment is greater than these."
John 13:34-35 "So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are My disciples."
Romans 15:7 "So accept each other just as Christ accepted you; then God will be glorified."
1 Corinthians 10:24 "Don't think only of your own good. Think of other Christians and what is best for them."
Galatians 6:10 "Whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone, especially to our Christian brothers and sisters."
Philippians 2:3-4 "Don't be selfish; don't live to make a good impression on others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourself. Don't think only about your own affairs, but be interested in others, too, and what they are doing."

I am glad to see your answer because of course you are exactly right. Not only that but we are not given a choice in the matter. Even if we are out of sorts with a brother it makes no difference. When a brother refuses a brother, then some one is completely out of line or even worse fooling themselves about who they are following.
When a brother willfully and intentionally hurts a brother, that brother is in grat pain and distress and we are required to pray and render assistence to that one.
Following Jesus means following Jesus. Period. There are NO "buts." We can not be a little pregnant. Either we are or we are not. Either we are Christians or we are not. We follow Jesus or we don't.
I use strong language I know and I will be condemned for it. So be it. Jesus also used strong language.
I am very upset because of the shabby treatment I see brothers/sisters doling out to one another and justifying their actions.
In searching through the Bible, especially the New Testament, I can find no topic Jesus taught on that was not ultimately about love or the consequence/effects of not demonstrating it in our lives. God is love as defined by His Word, and Jesus was NOTHING but LOVE encased in a human body.
We, as Christians, fail time after time after time to exercise this Christian love we have been filled with when we were saved. By what right do we hate one another or treat one another with contempt? Where are we given that right? Because we are not given it in the Bible. NEITHER has God ever wispered in any Christian ear that they are exempt from the commandments of His written Word.
I am a Christian. When I ask you to pray for me, you are REQUIRED to do just that. You do NOT have the luxury of saying you will and then go your way and do not. You do not have the option of telling me no, you will not pray, even if I refuse to tell you my need you are still required to at least pray that God will work His will in my life.
If we are Christians we will prove it by our actions, or as Jesus said we will be known by our fruits. We will be unable NOT to love one another.
2 Corinthians 5:14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:
The love of Christ "CONSTRAINETH" us. That means we simply cannot help ourselves. CANNOT. We are constrained.
Salvation Check:
Do we love our brothers/sisters?

Do we follow Jesus?

If a brother or sister is naked and unable to find food everyday, and you do nothing but say to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and filled," and you do not give them the things which they need, what good have you done? By doing this you are just showing that your faith by itself is dead.

yes... and also It depends on the situation. we may not always no the full story of why this person is in the situation. I would not leave a brother hanging.but I also don,t want to get In Gods way either.I would pray with him and seek God,s wisdom.I would ask God on how he would have me to help him.1john 3:17 If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? that verse seems to really convict me all the time.so yes I would help him with whatever that material possession may be.

Easy question. That "brother" who is not a Christian is not a "brother". He is simply a fellow human in need of Jesus. I was speaking of the Family of God, not the family of man.

We are required to help our brothers. If one of our brothers/sisters fall into sin, we gotta pull em out of that pit! Help them we must! Materialistically, yes, we have to sacrafice what we want to what they need.
If they need money to start up their life, i will lend any assistance that i can. I mean, obviously you don't help them until you get to the point where you're out of your own luck but lend any availible assistance that we have. I always carry a 'spare' with me.
