Give your list of the top 5 power ballads of all time.

Start with me:

5. "Beth" -- KISS
4. "When the Children Cry" -- White Lion
3. "I'm Leaving You" -- Scorpions
2. "Dream On" -- Aerosmith
1. "Too Late for Love"-- Def Leppard

I still can't help but shout in the chorus to my first pick. I actually don't care much for the band, but what an energy that song puts off. Pulls off what I think Leppard failed to do many times: retain that huge energy they had while skimming off all the cheesiness on top.

Power Ballads? Oh, man, I've got a million favorites, lol...let me see if I can think of the top 5...

5. Every Rose Has Its Thorn - Poison
4. Silent Lucidity - Queensryche
3. I Remember You - Skid Row
2. I'll Never Let You Go (Angel Eyes) - Steelheart
1. I'll Be There For You - Bon Jovi

That's my top 5, but the order is debatable...and it was hard to limit myself to only one Bon Jovi song, lol, but I managed it. ;)

4. "When the Children Cry" -- White Lion

I LOVE that song! I'm so lgad (glad, too) that you put that one on the list. The Queensryche, too!

I'd probably add the Scorp's "Wind of Change" ("Send Me An Angel'"s amazing, too), Aerosmith's "Angel," Firehouse's "Love of a Lifetime" (not b/c I love it, but b/c it's just such a staple for this kinda thing), Foreigner's "I Want to Know What Love is," The Bangle's "Eternal Flame" & the neverending Meatloaf's (lololol) "I Would Do Anything for Love."

I know that's not five. I just can't count.

"Hay Unos Ojos", or anything by Ana Gabriel. I can only stand ballads in spanish. And sung by her. The rest is rubbish.

Sounds like it's downloadin' time again...I need a faster connection though.

How about "Imaginame Sin Ti" though?

Not illegal downloading, I hope! The CIA will hunt you down!

That the Jaci Velasquez song? She's hot. Her songs not so hot. Get "Luna", "Solo Amigos", but "La Reina" and "Hay Unos Ojos" are by far the best. But anything that woman sings is gold. It's what we used to listen to at work during lunch while playing pool and macking game at the waitress. Good times. And Mana. I bet you know about them.

Mmeh. That's just an old-wives' tale....Just like smoking cigarettes can cause cancer, beer kills brain cells, buy one get one free, eating McDonald's three times a day is bad for you, "you'll shoot your eye out" as well as other helpful little diddlies like that. :D

But yes, dad. Legal's the way to go.

Not the one I was talking about, but...I'm impressed you like Jaci. She's beautiful, isn't she? Only artist who sounds angelic in both English and Spanish.

I was thinking of a male artist though. His name is eluding me right now. For some reason Luis Miguel is popping in my head.....

but he should pop right back out cuz he's not the one. :p

Yeah this is hard.

Kix - "Don't Close Your Eyes"
Faster Pussycat - "House Of Pain"
Def Leppard - "Hysteria" and "Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad"
Skid Row - "18 And Life"

I've also noticed that, on the recent side of things, the Eighteen Visions (yeah, I know) song "Broken Hearted" has a very 80s power ballad-ish vibe to it.

 All my younger brothers yell me this..I think I'm getting old.

I know who you're talking about. I can't remember his name neither. But Jaci also performs that song...in English only, I think.
