Beloved in Messiah:
On behalf of the executive team I want to make the following announcement in regards to the Married Icon and status.
We have read all of your suggestions and debates with a great deal of care. Certainly this is a very passionate subject and everyone seems to have pretty strong opinions about it. I want to thank you all for the level of decorum and brotherhood you have shown.
We too have had some lively debate and after which we have come up with this as a final ruling.
1. In regards to the Married couples area on CF:
Married Area - Available for those who are married, which is defined as a legal union between one man and one woman.
2. In regards to the selection describing one's relationship.
Users will have to make a choice when they first sign up for membership on CF. The choices will be:
Single
In Relationship
Married (Defined as a legal union between one man and one woman)
Private
3. Only people selecting the Married option will be able to have the wedding ring icon.
4. Only Senior Support Staff will be able to change the members' selection in this area similar to how denomination icons are changed now. Anyone may request to have their icon changed from Married to any of the other options without question from us.
We are instructing the staff that if an individual is carrying the married icon and does not fit the description which has been set forth that the ONLY thing that is to happen is that the status is to be changed. This is to be retroactive where applicable. There are to be no witch hunts.
We realize that many of you would have preferred a much more conservative approach to this issue. We also realize that many of you would have preferred a much more liberal view. We have tried very hard to balance the both sides to be as fair as possible to all with out diluting the G-d ordained definition of marriage as being between man and woman.
As with any election where the issues are heated it can sometimes be difficult for us to put away our heated feelings and move forward. But that is what we as a community must do at this time. Please prayerfully let us move forward in Christian harmony.
B'shem Y'shua HaMoshiach, Sar Shalom. Shalom
