It seems to me, from what I have read so far that was posted, that Halloween is a relatively new Holiday. As time span goes anyways.
Originally in scriptures God gave specific Holy Days to be observed (can be found in the books of Moses). It seems to me, this new Holiday, was not an original Holy Day.
It was a made up Holiday (for whomever, no matter your view).
Paul talks about being able to eat foods offered to idols. That the food itself is not sinful. (However, I believe Paul would agree, that he would have never partook in the offerings to the idols).
Now Jesus had talked about customs. Things that are not in the law, only things set up by man. He didnt want man putting more burdens on his children- placing their laws above his own.
I cant say I know where Halloween came from (originated). I know it is not a Holy Day ordained by God, for praise, worship or offerings.
I dont understand why now this day is set up for dressing up in costumes. Why? is my question. And why do children go from door to door asking for candy? I suppose I can kinda get the pumpkins, indian corn and what not, because it would be a day of fall harvest. But why cut out faces in the pumpkins? What actually started all these traditions? Because, as stated, it would not be a custom of All Saints Day.
I personally think a tradition of All Saints Day would be honoring the Saints. And saints have always been know as self sacrificers, not people who self indulge.
I have to ask myself what a true saint would think of this Holiday. And go back to a real saint like Peter, or John, or even Paul. Would they want to be remembered for themselves? Would they want this day to be remembered like this? For it really doesnt bring glory to God.
Many times I have just stated, "No, I dont celebrate Halloween."
But because of what was posted I decided to really think on it. What do scriptures declare. Because although you are right, and man is not to judge others, you must remember, the Word of God does judge. Which is why they hated Jesus, and then Jesus told us they would hate us for the same reason. Because the Word of God judges. It causes people to see their sinful selves-in the light of truth.
After having thought about it from this perspective I still have to say, "No, I will not celebrate halloween." (Even though my family enjoys this custom. I will not force my views on them. But I do not have to partake in it myself).
God Bless
