To all you people who are whining about letting someone (Oh NOOOSSS! TRANSEXUALS! GOD FORBID TEH EVIL)) use the restroom they feel comfortable in...

GET OVER IT. Honestly what do you care where someone uses the facilites. Are you looking? What do you care if someone wants to reassign their gender? Its not your "bits" so to speak being altered. Let people be who they are. If a guy or girl feels they are born the wrong gender and want to correct that its their business. What I want to know is what took the MTA so long (or other places) to do this?

Don't make comments about this as you have no vague idea about it. One-line statements dont count as arguements.

If there were only stalls in all restrooms, I wouldn't mind unisex restrooms, but the fact that more than 50% of the facilities in a men's room is comprised of open urinals, then I don't want any variation, version or degree of female in the room. That's because of sexual modesty.

Just because someone is or was born female doesn't mean necessarily they have any interest in the male physique.

It's the same reason I wouldn't have a gay male roommate. I would be uncomfortable for the same reason most women would be uncomfortable having me as a roommate; sexual modesty.

But, as bathrooms aren't segregated according to orientation, men share restroom facilities with gay and bisexual men on a regular basis.. men (though they may not experience any attraction to you personally) who are attracted to other men.

Transgendered individuals can belong to any orientation, so they may or may not even be interested in men.

If you're going by the 'sexual modesty' argument, why is it acceptable for a gay man to use the men's room, and not a FtM.. especially if he's attracted to women and not men?

I see many potential problems with this such as rape. But I train battered people so I guess I would have a more pessimistic view....but Rape is commited in bathroom stalls all the time...all it would take is for a serial rapist to disguise himself as a woman, use the bathroom and he would have opportunity...or he could just hang in the mens bathroom and wait for the women.

It will only make them pass undetected once people get used to it.

Thats just one problem I see with it, personally muself I [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] wherever I want, in the garden, on the lawn......you know it shouldnt matter where you hang one, as long as you get it out of your system.

Apart from the potential to increase rape, I dont see a problem...Night Clubs in Fiji have been doing this for ages (well for the transvestittes anyway)/

I'm pretty sure a guy who wanted to wait in the women's restroom in order to rape a woman would do it even if this rule was not passed. If he's okay with raping someone, going into the wrong bathroom isn't really gonna be a problem IMO.

i agree, but as people get used to it, they may not be so aware of the danger...if a transvestite walked into a womans restroom now, then people would be ware of him, if the law gets past he willjust be another faceless ''woman" in the bathroom.

I am not saying it doesnt happen now, but it has the potential to make things worse in the scenario that I am describing......I spend alotof time looking and researching rape techniques and the mo of rapists for my self defence class.

Can't the "transgendered" people just wait until they get home to do their business without having to bother everybody and causing disruptions in the MRA restrooms?

This is "political correctness" gone BERSERK!!!
If what you said in the other thread is true, then you shouldn't have to worry about ever interacting with someone different than you.

You are now obviously a sock puppet and a troll. What if I'm far away from home? What if I'm at work?

Then go to the bathroom in some place where there aren't going to be other people around! Nobody wants to go to the bathroom with a member of the opposite sex in the room!

Are they really your restroom......do you have the power to control who "ties there horse" in there.

Would you want to be the owner of a restroom?
EW I wouldn't. That would mean I would have to clean it.

I think it is very irrational for a person to "change" his or her sex, especially if it involves mutilation of his or her body.
What would you reccomend people do who are thinking about transitioning?

Why should your thoughts on rationality impact how others seek happiness and sanity?

Beyond your opinion, what makes it mutilation? Are breast implants mutilation? What about face lifts or botox injections? Or plastic surgery to change a person born with a birth defect or scar? All of this could be considered "irrational", the amount of pain involved to simply improve ones appearance.

What about circumcision, that is often claimed to be completely irrational as it causes a great deal of pain with little or no benefit?

Last, what about intersexed children, is it mutilation to make their genitals appear more male or more female?

But WHY do they have to use OUR restrooms???

They're everyone's restrooms, not just "yours". Get over it, it's not a big deal. You've probably used the restroom at the same time as a transsexual before, and just didn't know it.
