Its a well known fact that homosexuals have a tendency for different fashion the strait people (men at least)

I want to know why this is?

Does Satan lure people to homosexuality by trading them a better sense of fashion for their souls?

Is this simply part of the lifestyle* that they inherit from their homosexual friends, but if this is the case, why do people who dont have gay friends, and come out much later, still tend to have this sense when they are young?

* The views implied by the above post are not necesarly those of yasic or any affiliates. (specificaly the existance of a single homosexual lifestyle)

That's just a stereotype, and is not a fact. I don't look different than any other guy. You'd never know I was gay unless I told you (and it's not because I'm trying to hide it, if you asked I'd tell you). I don't have a great fashion sense at all, and in fact, I have to have one of my girlfriends go with me to pick out clothes :p In fact, none of the stereotypes that I can think of offhand apply to me. I listen to metal, drive a truck, and have a country accent. haha

I am not saying its a law, but I myself personally know people that I thought were gay based on how they acted, decorated their rooms, and dressed.... and I was right.

There are rooms I can come in, and say "this belongs to a gay person", and 9 times out of 10 I would be right.

Stereotypes are based on truth...

So that's what happened to my gaydar!

The gig's up, yasic.. hand it over. :p

Seriously, though.. gay men do seem to, on the average, possess a greater interest in fashion than straight guys do. (Though metrosexuals are on the rise.. ;)) I'm not really sure why that is.

Also, gay men tend to be much cleaner than straight men.

Maybe the reason that gays are more fashion oriented and better housekeepers is that the fact that they are gay, with much social stigma attached, gives them some freedom of giving into the "macho man stereotype" since they automatically broke it with their sexual orientation.

While we're on this subject, has anyone noticed that alot of gay men are geared more towards an artistic mindset? I suppose that kind of ties in with being fashionable maybe. But, myself and others I know are very artistic - personally, I enjoy writing music (however not the stereotypical gay male club mix from hell music) and playing a variety of musical instruments. I wonder if there's some connection between homosexuality and the artistic areas of the brain. This may be worthy of some research :D

Personally, I think this is true.
I'm a musician, and drawn to the arts.
I think that is one of the gifts we bring to the church and the world.

You know there's no such thing as a straight person with gaydar, right?

The steriotypes only come from people that are obviously gay. Most gay people, you can't tell, and that's why they arn't steriotyped.

A lot of straight men are like that, too. Just because you're artsy and you dress well doesn't mean that you're gay. A lot of my straight male friends are like this, and, as I said, they're straight. People tend to think they're gay, though....but they're not. :p

I never used the word all, however it does seem to be a general rule, not an exception.

Also, if you live in say a bible belt, beware a possibility that they are gay, but either hiding it or not allowing themselves to know it. . . Again, I am not saying it is true, it probally is not, but just be aware, and support them if anything happens.

I believe that "gay" interests like fashion and design, which are typically thought of as being feminine preoccupations, are in part the result of gays' position as outsiders. What I mean is that because many gay men feel (or are led to feel) like they are Others, then their reluctance to participate in something seen as "girly" is reduced. The same thing goes for the bedroom: many gay men have less inhibitions when it comes to taboo sex practices, since what they're doing in the first place is already seen as taboo.

It's my opinion that many more straight men would participate in things like fashion and cooking and design (we all know some straight men are good at these things anyway) if they weren't associated with being feminine.

i think anyone who believes the assertion that gay men are somehow more fashionable than their straight counterparts should spend a saturday night in any random gay bar. then you'll change your mind.

i've been out since i was 16. been to many a gay bar in my day. and i've seen some of the most atrocious outfits ever in gay bars. ;)
