Does God Know the Future

Yup, I think he does know the future. "I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord..."

this is one of the subjects I have chosen to leave untill heaven before I settle on any opinion, but here'a an interestiong theory.

God doesn't actualy know the future, but rather He frames the future.  that He in his infinite wisdom and understanding, takes into acount all veriables and uses those veriables that are within His power to acomplish His agenda.  Only humans have the right to be outside of God's influence.  His agenda being that all people chose to have relationship with Him.

My opinion has no references other then my experiences with God and my discernment.  If I did have books to back this up, it would still be just an opinion.  I don't presume to know or understand what God knows.  Nor will I try to guess wether or not He does know the actual future, but this idea does intrigue me.  And it could explain alot, but like you said it has it holes.  I think that God knows us so well that He can map out a long list of events based on what he knows our choises will be.  And then He can interact those events with others that He has mapped out, and gage all the variables and introduce His own, to solidify an outcome favorable to all who bear the name of Christ and are call according to His purpose.

I like looking for answers, but I like His lap much better.

but wouldn't you say that, then limits God? Are you saying that when He asked Adam where he was he really didn't know? if he doesn't know the future it also stems to reason that we can hide things from God then.

Again, I'm not saying that this theory is acurate.

But with this thought, let me say that, Hebrews 1:3 says that Christ upholds all things by the word of His power.  God being omnipresent is there by all knowing.  Because He is everywhere He sees everything.  He also sees all issues of the heart.  Because He knows the heart of everyman, He knows what every mans actions will be.  He is a Master chess player, playing on a board of infinity, with millions of pieces, anticipating X to the power of X number of moves with pieces that make their own choices.  His only oponent is a spirit who bearly understands the rules of the game. 

He sees things in the fifth demention with x-ray vision (length, heigth, depth, spirit, and freewill (or heart)).  He is a Master of probability, taking each possibility and playing it out until its logical end.  He sees the future like a great tree, each branch a new possibility.  And determines the correct moves that He should make to reach the outcome that He has chozen.

And the best part is, that He still has time to talk to me.

God is Omniscent. I know there is a verse in psalms that clearly states this. Just can't remmeber...

i sure do believe he knows i look at it this way.. i am sure i been on this earth be4 so the way i see it is God has a video tape he rewinds it and plays it and already knows remember that in the bible it says i knew you when you were in the womb? see he knew me be4 i was even born or was even created in the womb

Of course he knows the future ,  he has mapped out for us the complete picture , much of which is yet to happen .

I believe God is the creator of all things. That includes time, space, and all reality.

To say that God has that future mapped out. That He has already determined what the future will be. Is to say that we don't have any choices and that all of the evil that has occured was by God's choice. That my friends makes God evil.

No, it doesn't. God had the future mapped out in that he is already there. He knows the future perfectly.

I can't fully comprehend how God could decree everything and yet we still have a full will. I guess I never will figure that out Perhaps in Heaven

But that's what I believe.

I consider open theology a very heretical teaching.

God knows/sees the future, but He does not think of it as the future.  The best description of it is in the third section of Lewis' "Mere Christianity," but I don't remember the chapter.

Basically, Time is the fourth dimension, correct?  We are locked into moving one way through Time as three dimensional creatures, so we cannot imagine that someone could be in a position to move freely about Time, the way we move freely about Space.  God is not three dimensional, however.  God is either pandimensional (comprised of all possible dimensions [there are infinite dimensions]), or outside the realm of dimension completely.  So God sees the future as we see the present.  Stuff happens, but to God, all of history happens at once, one single moment that lasts for all eternity.  This is what Christ meant when he said, "Before Ambraham was, I Am."  God is eternally in all times, in the present.

to say that God has determined, Himself everything that will happen, That He, and He allone decides, both that good and that bad. That takes away our freedom of choice and makes God the bringer of evil. God has never discided that anything that is evil should happen. Nor will He. He only purposed that righteous things should happen. To say that He determines all future events will make Him responcible for such things as the holocaust and abortion.

God has decided that some things should happen in the future, but He has not determined everything that should happen in the future. But He does know the future.
