does everything you listen to have to be worship music? I learn a lot from listening to Bob Dylan. I enjoy differing views, especially outside of christianity. Much of those views are only found in metal/death metal/hardcore/punk/hardcore music scenes and sub-cultures. To be a christian, does it mean throwing away the nirvana, pearl jam, and the footballs? You like what you like for a reason. My personal study, in which for the past nearly 3yrs i've only listened to Christian music, and much to my own destruction, and trouble of intellect. Be you to the core, Jesus saved YOU, and i know for me, i can love people in a very new way, a very different way, not out of any fear of displeasing God, but from my own will do i love others. That's very foundational in a sense to me.Is it legitimate worship music?

Music can be helpfull to place you in a mood so it is easier to pray, but the music, or the feelings, are not the prayer.
Which music is the best for that? Any music that let you mind free to concentrate, and do not overwhelm you
I sing many kinds of music, but I will only sing songs who's words I either pray to God or use tp declare to others the glory of God. (much like the the angel did on Isaiah 6:3)
How is prayer and declaring the glory of God not worship?

As worship music, Id say no because most of the time the focus seems to be in the wrong place. Is it legitimate worship music?
As far as I am concerned, you should listen to what makes you happy. If that be worship music so be it, but I will tell you... on my car stereo, I have a Christian station, a hip hop station, a country station, and a mix station.
I feel that the Lord gives people the talent to make music, which makes people happy. As long as it doesnt take your focus off of God, and doesnt influence the way you live your life for Him, there should be no issue listening to what you want.
Again all of this is IMO.
It's fine to listen to, can even be edifying, but has no place in the Liturgy.
"You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Melethiel again."
Concerning worship, I guess it depends on what tradition you want to follow, the traditions of the world, or the traditions of the Church.
Hip Hop in worship is apostacy.
