Do you also think that Israel should be erased from the map and that holocaust never took place?

No and no. I think what he's said has been taken out of context and I think the media has given zero attention to legitimate grievances Israel has caused some arabs. Does it really make sense to you that every single muslim country around Israel hates their guts for no good reason?

An unsurprising, cowardly response from the Bush regime.

Honestly -- why do these people fear an honest, open debate?

I see Ahmadinejad's pathetic attempt to give himself a platform has already worked on some. What does he have to lose by throwing out various challenges? On the other hand what would President Bush have to gain by wasting his time and accepting any?

It would be retarded for Bush to debate this nutcase
What would it prove?
This is publicity stunt, pure and simple

Actually, Bush only stands to gain by having a debate, right? By walking away from it, it looks as though he has something to hide or he is afraid.

There has never been a debate between world leaders and for good reason. It is pointless

One would think that if the leader of Iran is just a crazy hate-filled lunatic, Bush could easily expose that in a live uncensored debate. If he was capable of doing that, those of us who are skeptical about his agenda in Iran might come around a bit. One would think that this would be a major gain... especially given the shrinking support for Iraq. If he wants to pursue his agenda in Iran, Bush better be able to convince people that it is a good idea.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has called on U.S. President George W. Bush to participate in a "direct television debate with us," so Iran can voice its point of view on how to end problems in the world. "But the condition is that there can be no censorship, especially for the American nation," he said Tuesday.
The White House called the offer to debate Bush a "diversion" from international concerns over Iran's nuclear program, Reuters reported.

seriously,
all the president of Iran wants is to make Bush look like a fool to the other Arab countries. And I think he would accomplish his goal as we are already in poor standing with most Arabs. Or he would use this debate to assinate Bush. I think the Bush administration is wise for not taking him up on it.

Challenging someone to an open, uncensored debate is a 'pathetic attempt'? The man writes open letters, challenges people to open debates on TV and is STILL dismissed out of hand, often with no concrete reason for doing so.

What would Bush get from it? Well, if Ahmadinejad is such a narrow, hateful and loon-crazy nutcase, surely GWB -- the leader of the free world & worldwide ambassador of goodwill -- would have no problems demonstrating this in an open debate and would thus gain international consensus for his case against Iran. Because, you know, other than most of America, people do like to hear both sides of a contentious issue before making up their mind and proceeding with a course of action.

With attitudes like yours it isn't difficult to miss where the culture of intolerance & lack of willingness to harbour honest discuss that permeates American foreign policy discussion comes from.
