When Do We Receive Our Reward of Salvation?

Matthew 5:12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

Matthew 6:1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

Matthew 16:27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and THEN he shall reward every man according to his works.

Here we find that upon Jesus’ return is when we receive our reward (those in Christ) of salvation into our immortal body and life eternal whereby we reign with him on earth.

Luke 6:23 Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their fathers treated the prophets.

What day is that? The day of the Lord’s return.

Colossians 3:24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

What is our inheritance? Salvation - Immortality - Life eternal with Jesus on the earth. Matthew 5:5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth (not heaven).

Revelation 11:18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

Again, we see that our reward comes when Christ returns. We do not go up to heaven to receive our reward.

Revelation 22:12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

Revelation 2:26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

Revelation 5:10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

Revelation 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

Revelation 21:3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

Revelation 11:15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

Revelation 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

We receive eternal life at pt of conversion/belief. That's how we can live that abundant zoe (God-kind) of life.

But in the meantime, our minds need renewing with the Word, and our bodies need to be kept healthy.

When the Lord returns, we will get new glorified bodies that are not perishable.

At the judgment seat of Christ, we will get our rewards or loss of rewards. :)

"When Do We Receive Our Reward of Salvation? "

Depends on what you're talking about. If you're talking about the rewards usually talked about in the bible, it is when we stand before our Lord in judgement.

Upon Christ's return isn't he to judge then? ;) *wonders*

so very true Andrew....well said... one thing I would like to interject though is I don't believe in the saying "once saved always saved"

When Jesus spoke to the Jews and afterwards they believed .... Jesus said....John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

I see a condition here....if one stays in his truth then he is assured of receiving eternal life when Christ comes again....

what do you think about this verse...would you agree with what I stated?

God Bless

as to "once saved, always saved", im relunctant to reply for fear of the massive flame war that would procede. but i must speak ... ;)

I do believe in "once saved, always saved", and to the verses that say something like the above mentioned (post #5), John 8:31b, Jesus talking (nkjv) "...'If you abide in my word, you are My disciples indeed.'", I would reply that its absolutely true. :) if you do abide in God's word, you will be His disciples.

However, where is the "loose" your salvation part? When we get saved the Holy Spirit comes into our lives instantly, never to leave us, our sins are forgiven and we are washed clean, instantly, never to be brought up again, and we are born again, our spiritual birth.

(main point follows...)
the problem i see is people who are a little wrong in their logical thinking. for example, look at Mark 16:16 (nkjv) Jesus talking "He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned."
Now, some people who say baptism is required of salvation (it is not) will quote the first part of this verse, which seems to indeed say if you 1) believe and 2) are baptized, you will be saved. now, this is true! however, only #1 (believe) is *required* of salvation, for the next statement says that if you do not believe you will be condemned, not if you dont believe and you dont get baptized, but only if you dont believe. so the above verse mentioned in post #5 (John 8:31) is indeed all true! but just like mark 16:16, you cant say the opposite always.

check out this statement: "If it is raining outside bob will carry an umbrella."
we can say wholeheartedly if the statement is true, that if it is raining outside, bob WILL be carrying an umbrella. *however*, we CAN NOT say that if bob is carrying an umbrella it is raining.

i hope this makes sense. :)

much Christian love!
(ps. keep the posts loving, remember, speak the truth in love! :) )
