Ok, so I'm taking journalism this year at school.

I really really really wanna be highly involved in the photography section of stuff 'cause I absolutely LOVE photography.

I don't have a nice camera or anything, and I never have..never even used one! BUT, the school has two nice ones ... I'm really hoping I can be photo. editor at school .. but lots of other people want to do it too ...

grrr, frusteration :p

Just go out and show them what you've got. Start submitting photos for publication. Blow away all the others applying for the same job. You'll get picked up in no time.

take a variety of shots...and ALWAYS know who the people are for accurate captions!

i did yearbook for 6 years (3 in HS, 3 in college) and newspaper for 2(both in college) -- photos for both (and writing & editing)...and our biggest thing was make sure you know WHO you are photographing and WHY! there can be a HUGE difference in meanings for the photos....

GOOD luck & HAVE FUN!

Journalism is my love too. Last year I was photo editor. It was my first year, and there wasn't much competition, but I loved it. If you're talented, organised, can give others orders while being nice still, can meet deadlines and see what needs to be done, you're good for the job. Have fun. It was my favourite course.

I'm in a Yearbook class too, and since I'm in Photography class they said I'd have to be one of the ones to take the majority of pics.

I'd say that since a lot fo other people want to be involved with the photos in the yearbook, too, you have to make yours pics stand out. Shots that show things the others don't, or are taken from different perspectives, etc.

Also, in yearbook pics, it's really important to makes sure you 1) Take pics of everyone, not just friends, and 2) Don't take pics of people looking right into the camera.

And make sure you give input and be involved. :)

Good luck! Yearbook can be a fun class/club! ^_^
