Hey everybody,

I was wondering if there was a book(would think there would be one) on how hymns were written. A while back, in our study of Proverbs, our Pastor related a story of how "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and it was just really inspiring. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance...

I am sure that there are several books on this subject. just check with your local Christian book store. There was, at one time, a thread here about this, but I discontinued posting because no one else seemed interested. Am willing to bring it back if there is interest.

A great book (well, it's two actually) I have stumbled on is THEN SINGS MY SOUL by Robert Morgan. There are two volumes, and each volume accounts 150 hymns, and a brief story on each one. There is also a musical score for every one. So that's 300 hymns, 300 stories and 300 musical scores!
