Let me apologize. I did not wish for the Anabaptist/Baptist area to split. I was unaware of any differences we had. I thought, for the most part, that we were "getting along." All I wished was for a place for new believers to the faith, to have somewhere to go and ask questions without us stepping on each others toes unintentionally.

I'm really, really sorry for the split. It was not my intentions. For that, I offer my sincerest apologies.

Let me apologize. I did not wish for the Anabaptist/Baptist area to split. I was unaware of any differences we had. I thought, for the most part, that we were "getting along." All I wished was for a place for new believers to the faith, to have somewhere to go and ask questions without us stepping on each others toes unintentionally.

Although I suspect anyone who would apologize would also be someone who is least likely to have been at fault. No, the people who would really need to apologize generally don't see any need. :sigh:

No need to apologize! We shouldn't harbor a grudge for this nor should you feel bad about us leaving. This forum will greatly help me as I have been a baptist all my life but now find myself belonging here in the anabaptist forum. I have a feeling this will help others as well in time.

Not happy, of course. Any splintering of Christian fellowship saddens me, and for it to happen the way it happened just seems to intensify the sadness for me.

But we will accept our new exile and move on in life, just as our spiritual ancestors accepted being banished from their homes for their beliefs.

It's probably fitting that the radically Christian beliefs of the anabaptists are still causing them to be outcast to this day. Most anabaptists cling to the verse about being separate from the world and it's ways. If the banishment came from our views of mercy and grace, then so be it.

One need only read the Schleitheim articles to see that the Anabaptists would never have aligned themselves with those who reject the clear teachings of Jesus to begin with.

From all this we should learn that everything which has not been united with our God in Christ is nothing but an abomination which we should shun. By this are meant all popish and repopish works and idolatry, gatherings, church attendance7, winehouses, guarantees and commitments of unbelief, and other things of the kind, which the world regards highly, and yet which are carnal or flatly counter to the command of God, after the pattern of all the iniquity which is in the world. From all this we shall be separated and have no part with such, for they are nothing but abominations, which cause us to be hated before our Christ Jesus, who has freed us from the servitude of the flesh and fitted us for the service of God and the Spirit whom He has given us.

Actually, they would fall under the repopish. It was the way Michael Sattle referred to the Protestants in this confession of faith. If you want to understand the relationship between Baptists and Anabaptists, do a little research on how Calvin felt about Anabaptists.

I'm completely aware how Calvin felt about the anabaptists. I just don't think that many of our baptist brethren here at CF are Calvinists.

Well, there are baptist's that have what people would call Calvinists beliefs. But Calvin like anyone was a man of his time so not many Baptist's today would hold his opinions.

You have a good point, I grew up baptist and know very few if any I can think of.
