I guess it is the lake of fire

Second death, Summary from Scofield:
"The second death" and the "lake of fire" are identical terms (Rev_20:14) and are used of the eternal state of the wicked. It is "second" relative to the preceding physical death of the wicked in unbelief and rejection of God; their eternal state is one of eternal "death" (that is, separation from God) in sins (Joh_8:21); (Joh_8:24). That the second death is not annihilation is shown by a comparison of (Rev_19:20); (Rev_20:10).
After one thousand years in the lake of fire, the Beast and False Prophet are still there, undestroyed. The words "forever and forever" ("to the ages of the ages") are used in (Heb_1:8) for the duration of the throne of God, eternal in the sense of unending.

It's this passage in particular that has me a bit puzzled...
Rev 2:11
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.
If this is just a separation from God...why would they use the word hurt?

The book of Revelation tells us that there will be two resurrections. First Christ will resurrect the just, and we will be saved. Then he will resurrect the unrigheous, in order to judge and condemn them. In order to die twice, one must be raised back to life after dying. I've always assumed that this is why the book of Revelation teaches that there are two resurrections.

Maybe 'cause this church was suffering, and he wanted them to know they would hurt anymore???

Rev 2:9I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and [I know] the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but [are] the synagogue of Satan.
Rev 2:10Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast [some] of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

A friend of mine said something to me the other day that I have to agree with...Revelation is a book that is both scarey and beautiful all at the same time. Of course I feel like most of the bible is that way. There are things in there that were so bad yet God is so beautiful. Out of every book I've ever read, the bible is one of the most fascinating books I've ever opened.

From The Message, chapter 21
6-8Then he said, "It's happened. I'm A to Z. I'm the Beginning, I'm the Conclusion. From Water-of-Life Well I give freely to the thirsty. Conquerors inherit all this. I'll be God to them, they'll be sons and daughters to me. But for the rest—the feckless and faithless, degenerates and murderers, sex peddlers and sorcerers, idolaters and all liars—for them it's Lake Fire and Brimstone. Second death!"

Thank you all. :)

And Arunma...DeaconDean speaks highly of you. Nice to meet you.

Nice to meet you too.

As for Dean, I speak highly of him too. On those occasions when we have our disagreements, we have the tendency to do so in a friendly spirit. That, and we both love Transformers: The Movie.

It was just yesterday someone was telling me here on this very forum that the second resurrection and judgement was only for believers as well.

That's the way it should be. We should be able to disagree in love just as we agree in love and discuss things in a peaceful manner.

Everyone of us will die. Right? This is the FIRST death. But believers only will be resurrected and live with Christ for 1,000 years. And then comes the SECOND death. This is reserved for unbelievers who died a first death like us and on Judgment Day, they will be resurrected, books will be opened and unbelievers will be condemned to death, an eternal permanent death, a second time. And then, the new heaven and the new earth that is promised, will appear and believers will live with God eternally, permanently.

The "second death" is explained later in Revelation. There are two verses: Revelation 20:6 "Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years."

Then, in revelation 20:14, we find, "And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death."

So, it certainly is eternal separation from God. And it is also eternal torment, being locked in an indestructable spiritual body and swimming or wading in the lake of fire for all eternity.

Sure makes you want to get to know Jesus really, really well, doesn't it?

The martyrs of the tribulation will reign with Christ for 1000 years.

[BIBLE]Revelation 20:4[/BIBLE]

Then comes the general resurrection of everyone else.

The judgment before the second death involves the book of life so it cannot be for unbelievers only:
