Luke 4:20

Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him.

That settles it.
I don't understand what your answer means. Would you mind explaining your point of view a little more?

I believe anything can be good in moderation.
I gather you are saying that anything in moderation may be good for the human body to consume?

People (often times unknowingly) consume those items on a regular basis, yet they live. Arsenic was once used in medical applications, cyanide is produced naturally by foods such as bean sprouts, cashews, cherries, corn, lentils, potatoes and soybeans. Mercury is used in medicines that provided cures for syphilis, and is used in vaccines. Some organic halides are essential for proper bodily functions. Chlorides help in certain brain functions and helps to make stomach acids.

I dont recommend ingesting poisons in any amounts, and I thought it would be obvious that I didn't intend to include deadly substances. There are many claims that marijuana contains poisons, so smoking is basically poisoning oneself.

I don't think there's any moral issue regarding cannabis intake itself, but instead regarding possible addiction and actions you do while high.

For what it's worth, I've never done while high or drunk that I regret. Ambien, a perfectly legal schedule iv drug (along with xanax, benzos, barbituates) is a different story. It's great for helping you get to sleep, but if you stay awake a little bit (an hour maybe) after taking it, you'll start hallucinating and experience retrograde amnesia. I haven't totally regretted anything I've said (driving, let alone being in public while on ambien is a terrible, terrible idea), but I'd look back from saved MSN conversations and think to myself "Geez...I can't believe I said that..."

When high do you sit around and stare at the wall instead of finishing your homework? Flash your genitals at the general public? Yeah, that might be sinful. Chill and compose some music, play some video games and go on walks with friends? I wouldn't consider that harmful at all.

Ahh fair enough, I did hear about the guy who developed an immunity to cyanide as someone was trying to poisen him slowly but all it did was make him very sick. Also consuming one drop of 100% caffiene is supposively meant to end in morality with humans, so I was unclear about the deadly substances. Thanks for clearing it all up.

In Australia police are now testing drivers to try to catch them if they are driving whilst under the influence of Cannabis. In the event of a crash (such as with a tree), police also do a blood alcohol and (dependant on state) the blood is also used in testing for drugs.

Alcoholic wine was consumed. However, thin sour wine would have been the everyday drink. This was mainly consumed because the water wasn't good (at least in some areas) to drink, due to mineral deposits or parasites.

The alcohol content would have killed parasites. I'm assuming that was recognized, that drinking water straight versus drinking water mixed with a little wine.

Typically drinking alcoholic drinks would actually dehydrate you. So mixing a little wine into water would have made the water safer to drink, (likely more pleasing taste), and still actually give you fluids that your body could use.

Heck I am a Christian and smoke cannibus. It can have great uses, but can be very harmfull too, especielly smoking. But of that of hemp use you can make so much out of hemp. and it has some medical uses. good to relax too;)
Oddly enough, there are christians who have affairs, or steal, or lie, etc. Being a christian that smokes marijuana doesn't mean it is ok to do.

You should check into how wine was consumed back then. Typically, it would have been watered down, as drinking wine straight would have been considered barbaric.

Yes, Jesus turned water into wine, but context is important. Jesus making watered down wine does not dismiss other scripture that speaks against intoxication, and mind altering substances.

This is another one of those postulations. Where does it say that he watered down the wine after he turned it into wine? All that's ever said in the bible is that they drank the wine.

Context? There's always a cry for 'context' except when they are attacking gays in other threads. Then what's written in the bible is AS IS - even when there is evidence that the translation is not correct.

In this case, the context is history. Many times the water was simply not safe to drink. It was found that a little alcohol in the water was good for killing parasites. Therefor, most drink (for the purposes of quenching thirst) would have been either milk (probably goatsmilk) or a thin, sour wine used not for intoxiction (though in excess it could probably still cause this) but for safe drinking.
