no doubt. what non-biblical armageddon might there be?crazyfingers said:If you mean armageddon in the biblical sense, I'd say that there is no reason to believe that it will ever happen.

hnnn... wrongly so.crazyfingers said:The word is also used simply to describe a decisive or catastrophic conflict or event.
Sorry James was repping you and the silly system just went haywire.jamesrwright3 said:Well Maybe it will be moved
But with the current events in the Middle East, I thought it would be ok to have it posted in here
I am Catholic, but don't "believe" everything the church says regarding prophecy. I keep an open mind
And people in my parent's church were "standing by the window" because they thought the gulf war was it. (the original, with bush senior.) Desert Storm.Evee said:Sorry James was repping you and the silly system just went haywire.
Hope you recieved them.
I was told today by a friend that it may be soon especially if Iran gets way involved.
Not really sure though.
Finally, someone has mentioned that.Uphill Battle said:And people in my parent's church were "standing by the window" because they thought the gulf war was it. (the original, with bush senior.) Desert Storm.
I'm sure that people involved in WWI, and WWII thought the same. But Jesus told us not to be fooled, as there would be wars, and rumors of wars... that has happened constantly since the dawn of time!
which, the gulf war, or the scripture?Self Improvement said:Finally, someone has mentioned that.

there is far more to it than simply "nations lining up against isreal." What of teh 7 years pact?jamesrwright3 said:I think it's different here though
Gulf War 1 did not directly involve Israel and I think that was a little bit of paranoia
The other two wars, WWI and WWII well occured before Israel existed so they don't count.
It appears the countries surrounding Israel are actually lining up against it...
Anyone know of the prophecy involving the Kings of the North which supposedly involve Iran and possibly Russia?
let me know how that theory works out, will you?jayem said:If you consider "Armageddon" to be an immense conflagration, then that will occur in about 5 x 10^9 years. The sun produces energy by fusing hydrogen into helium. The heavier helium sinks into the sun's core, with the hydrogen in the outer layers. The immense heat produced balances the internal gravity, which would cause the sun to collapse. But as the hydrogen becomes depleted, and less energy is generated, gravity will eventually take over. The core will become compressed, but this will temporarily generate such enormous heat that the star's outer layers will expand. The sun will become a red giant, and its diameter will extend beyond the earth's orbit. Our planet will be vaporized by this expansion of the sun's outer layer. Eventually, as this energy is dissipated, the sun will shrink down to a white dwarf. Our sun does not have enough mass to become a black hole. So the earth will ultimately be consumed by the sun. But we've got 5 billion years left. Or so the story goes.
