Im with the Catholics on this one. These books are inaccurate! There is no rapture! It's a ll a bunch of bunk! Actually I considr myself a Catholic even though I was baptized Lutheran. Im going to take the classes and get confirmed Catholic. They are the only members of the Christian body who make sense.

Insulting non-Catholics really isn't the way to get your point across, is it?

Caedmon--I don't think they were poorly written per se. I think the writers were trying to reach a broad range of readers. Apparently, by the ages indicated on this thread, they do.

 I am just starting The Remnant and I find them fascinating. It has helped me understand the book of Revelation much more. I have to disagree, you cant make a series like this have the action that the first couple of books constantly. They are also helping me find my way back to Jesus. Amen.

I liked the first one only. The rest felt too pro-American for me. And there was quite a few instances of poetic licensing. So... yeah... that's what I think. Only the Father knows what's gonna happen. All we have are signs (anyone that knows about semiotics will know just how important signs really are in everyday life).

*shrug*. And Tim LaHaye strikes me as way too "fundie" for me. Some of his views just bug me.

I haven't read the books but I caught the last half of one of the movies on JCTV the other day. Can anyone give me a short explaination of the story line as I was a little confused by the premise of the movie I saw. Now as I understand it (from what I saw) the rapture came and all the Christians diappeared then this evil guy (representing Satan) rules the earth and a band of Christians that are like the underground resistance are opposing him and generating their own band of support. Now what confused me, is that if the rapture came then how can there be still be Christians on earth. And with the rapture that sort of rounds things off as their isn't going to be a third coming so haven't those "Left Behind" missed the boat so to speak. It just doesn't make sense to me. As I said I haven't read any of the books and have only seen half a movie (which wasn't too bad). I would just like to know what the proper storyline is before I go out and buy any of the books. I have looked on the web for a synopsis but all the web sites I have visited, just gave reviews with little or no explaination of the actual plot or premise.
Obviously I have missed some salient point to the story, so if anyone can be bothered to post a brief synopsis I would be grateful.

Bless Ya
Col :) <><

Cuz, people realized they were left behind (OHO!) and believed. Hence, Christians. Although from what I heard, the movie had some of the worst acting ever. And the guy who said that was a poor actor himself. Him and I made movies in high school....
Oh ok, but if they realised they were left behind because they were not believers, what point is their in them now believing as there is no second chance. Their is no third coming. Their is no eternal reward for them.

Hindsight is a great thing, however the basis of Christanity is faith and trust in God's promise. We believe Christ will come again by faith, not because we have seen it happen but because we believe it will happen and want to be prepared and right with God before that time comes.

Believing after the fact does not show faith or trust at all, it simply emphasises peoples inabilty to have faith without tangible proof. So I don't know whether you could infact class those left behind who become believers as Christian as they have no faith.

Do these books invite the premise that there will be more than one rapture or more comings of Christ or something. Maybe I have to read the book.

I know what you must be thinking ..."just read the book!!" Thanks for your answer though, the books seem to be popular as many people rave about them and I read an article that said the authors have become multi-millionaires from it.

Bless Ya and thanks again

Because according to the book, the Rapture isn't the end yet. The authors decided that you still have one FINAL chance to believe, because of the Tribulations and the Rapture (LOOK! All them Christians disappeared! Maybe it's time I believed too!). Which BTW has its pros and cons. Belief without faith isn't a good thing.

Also: I'm still somewhat skeptical of the American fundamentalist belief of the rapture. Only the Father knows, as the Bible says. So... the books may be completely accurate, or they can be partially accurate, or completely inaccurate. I have no idea whichy way they go.

Col here is a quick and hopefully clear telling of what you have missed.....

IN the twinkling of an eye all those who confess and truly love the LORD JESUS are taking to heaven. This is the rapture.

With the Church of JESUS removed from the earth...the Antichrist is allowed to run the world as he sees fit. Those that were left behind fall into two catagories, those who knew JESUs and didnt serve him and those who knew Him not at all.

many of those left behind who didnt believe or confess JESUS for what ever reason... started calling out to God to be saved.... this is the tribulation force.. or those underground christians. The books are based around a group of those people who were once left behind but are now Christians.

The second coming is in the last book, when JESUS is actually seen again by the entire world and judges the world for thier sins.

hope that explains it ok enough.

in JESUS,
psycho

explain yourself. where are the insults?

Well, first of all, if you ask and not demand, I'd be happy to answer.

But I'll go ahead on how I read that post . . .

. . . he indicated that Catholics thought the books were "bunk." He's indicating that only non-Catholics are into these books and reading. Not only reading them, but thinking they're the truth. Therefore, I concluded that he thought that non-Catholics were naive and stupid by reading these.

However, it may not have been the way the poster intended to come across--but that's how s/he did to me. As we're in an open internet forum, people will read the same sentence differently. That's the way I'm reading it until the author informs me I'm incorrect.
