So what do think is going on here ?... on the surface it appears to be normal everyday trading , but for some reason God is not happy about this.

What is this Babylon doing with these goods , is she consuming them or is she re-selling them or what?

There is one unusual thing that I did notice here , and that was the sale of all kinds of ivory to Babylon . Today the culling of elephants is illegal , but it appears that it won't be illegal at time of the end .

Has anyone else noticed anything abnormal or unusual going on here other than what appears to be normal trading ?

God is upset that they see everything as merchandise and they value trade more than him. It has become their god. It was a “multitude of thy merchandise” that revealed imperfection in Satan [Eze 28:16]. It is the root of their power that enables them to oppress others [Hos 12:7]. There is no difference, for them, between a sack of flour and the souls of men they enslave and trade [Rev 18:13].

Join our church and pledge your life away.
Gods not important. Its the church that has to pay the bills.

Beloved, Jesus says FOLLOW ME. Dont follow any other master.

Is it a possibility that this will also occur in the kingdom of God? We too will have "Mark's" is it for buying and selling as well?????

, but for some reason God is not happy about this.

God is upset because it is passing itself off as Jerusalem but it is a harlot.

What iniquities is God remembering?

Re 18:5For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.

What city has or will received double?

Isa 40:2Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the Lord's hand double for all her sins.
BD,

Babylon is called a harlot for good reason. We see a king claiming to be the most high, city of gold precious jewels, adorned in scarlet, inabinants have "mark's"...... it all parrallels new Jerusalem seen two chapters later which is NOT a harlot but the real deal.

I believe we can learn a lot of our eternal home by studying the Babylon counterfeit.

Mark.

I don't think it was the trading that displeased God, or atleast not just the trading.

Rev 18:2-11 said:
And he called out with a mighty voice, "Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! She has become a dwelling place for demons, a haunt for every unclean spirit, a haunt for every unclean bird, a haunt for every unclean and detestable beast. For all nations have drunk the wine of the passion of her sexual immorality, and the kings of the earth have committed immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth have grown rich from the power of her luxurious living." Then I heard another voice from heaven saying, "Come out of her, my people, lest you take part in her sins, lest you share in her plagues; for her sins are heaped high as heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities. Pay her back as she herself has paid back others, and repay her double for her deeds; mix a double portion for her in the cup she mixed. As she glorified herself and lived in luxury, so give her a like measure of torment and mourning, since in her heart she says, 'I sit as a queen, I am no widow, and mourning I shall never see.' For this reason her plagues will come in a single day, death and mourning and famine, and she will be burned up with fire; for mighty is the Lord God who has judged her." And the kings of the earth, who committed sexual immorality and lived in luxury with her, will weep and wail over her when they see the smoke of her burning. They will stand far off, in fear of her torment, and say, "Alas! Alas! You great city, you mighty city, Babylon! For in a single hour your judgment has come." And the merchants of the earth weep and mourn for her, since no one buys their cargo anymore,

It appears to me that she was judged more for exalting herself and sexual immorality (& probably many more left unlisted here). The ruin of trade seems to be more of a side effect of her judgement or a punishment for the merchants.

I suppose Babylon could be Islam, especially the oil-producing Middle East countries. Without the oil from that region, I suspect the world's economy would falter, at least briefly, meaning less trade in luxuries. It says the kings of the earth commited fornication with her, possibly meaning they did things they shouldn't have, in order to get the oil. The trade mentioned in the OP could just be the byproduct of wealth. It doesn't say the merchants are upset because Babylon doesn't buy their stuff, but because nobody buys it, perhaps meaning that the wealth of Babylon allowed others to become wealthy.
