----
It didn't take long for the rest of the group to emerge from the tavern, which was now a place of chaos and shoutings. Silently, Carwain led the group away from the walls, and they started walking in the northerly direction, where they supplies and horses were waiting.

Okay, thanks Blessed-One for the sum up.

Cathy enjoyed listening to Ryan's stories to, however, she didn't talk about them the way Lusha did. Lusha was fascinated at how Rayn would could lead up to a cliffhangar, and then scare her half to death. Cathy just enjoyed listening. The rain that poured on the house, made a terrific beat to Ryan's story. As much as Cathy wanted to listen to Ryan's story, she couldn't get her mind off of her parent's.
"What happened then Ryan?" Cathy heard her anxious sister ask.
"Then I got the bear in his back, and I finished him off."
"Oh my word! That must have been exciting!"
"I wouldn't call it exciting, a little close to loosing a few fingers, but then there's not that much difference is there?" Ryan said smiling.
"Alright you two, dinner's ready. Ryan would you stay here with Lusha? I need to go see Mary." Caty said.
"Absolutly." Ryan replied.
"Thanks." Cathy put on her over coat, pulled the hood over her head, and walked out the door.

Cathy walked to the market, with the sweet smell of spring rain pouring on her. She walked into a small office.
"Hi Mary." she said.
"Cathy, a letter came for you today." Mary replied. Cathy took the letter.
"Mark Hazel? Do you know a Mark Hazel Mary?" Cathy asked.
"I don't think so. Why?"
"I don't know a Mark Hazel either, and this latter is from a Mark Hazel." Cathy opened the letter, and read.
"Oh, now I remember. Ma and Pa went to stay with a Mark. I didn't know his last name was Hazel. He sent me a letter from Ma, saying they'll be here in a few days. Thanks Mary."
"Bye love." Mary said. Cathy walked back out in the rain, and back home.

glad to see you, oncewaslost!
sorry guys, i can't wait, we should get Calenlanthir on (wanna meet up there?)
----

On the night of the ball, Oridea spent quite a bit of time dressing up with assistence from Kala. Their cousin Llian had gotten bored with their spending an immeasurable time in the room and had gone out for a drink with some of his mates.
The atmosphere of the city was feastive, all the taverns and inns in town were full and singing reigned on the street.
----

Carwain spied a small form flying ahead, it looked like Oridea's falcon, Ruffle. The falcon flew on and dropped below the trees, about some distance from the hidden supplies and horses.

This is Calenlanthir! My other name wouldn't get e-mail replies, when it used to, so I just changed to this one.

Okay, I'm going to do something so my character's can at least go to the ball for a little while.

Cathy walked in the house, just as Rayn was leaving.
"You're leaving?"
"I have to get something. I'll be right back."
Cathy walked in the house, took off her coat and brushed her hair. Ryan came back, holding a wrapped package.
"What is that?" Cathy asked.
"It's a gift.....for you." Ryan said.
"For me?"
"A coming home preasant."
"Ryan, you shouldn't have."
"I wanted to." Ryan said, smiling slightly.
"Thank you." Cathy whispered. Ryan nodded.
"Open it!" squealed Lusha. Cathy's eyes sparkled with curiosity.
She sat in a chair, and opened the neatly wrapped package. She gasped, when she pulled out a pearl-white dress with a pale lavender band around the waist, with two pale thin lavender strings, that hung down to the bottom of the dress.
"Ryan I-....I don't know what to say." Cathy said looking up at him.
"Thank you is just fine." he replied.
"And I have the perfect shoes that would go with this."
"The dress comes with something else. Only, I didn't wrap it."
"Ryan, the dress in enough."
"Well, what good is a dress if you can't wear it?"
"What are saying?"
"The Ball isn't over yet; we could go."
Cathy squealed, ran and gave Ryan a friendly hug.(you'll learn to know that I like hugs!)
"Thank you!" she said, and dashed up stairs. Lusha followed.

Cathy changed into the dress, put on her white shoes with a small matching pale lavender bow on the end. She put on light make-up, and then decided to put her hair up in a French Twist, but left a thin layer of hair hanging down over her shoulders. She twisted the extra hair, into spirals. Some hanging down her back, others hanging over her shoulders and few bordering her face. A few small spirals hung out from the French Twist. She stuck small purple roses in her hair tightly, and put on a diamond neacklass and matching bracelet.
She then looked herself over, and though one thing was missing. She opened her droor, and pulled out a big box. She opened it to reveal a small diamond tiara, that had belonged to her grandmother. She put it on, and smiled.
She grabbed her nicest and warmest over coat, and walked downstairs.
"Wait!" Lusha whispered.
"I want to announce you in!"
"Lusha, it's only Ryan."
"Oh please?" Lusha asked, the small girl in her coming through her dark, glasy blue eyes.
"Fine." Cathy said smiling. Lusha walked slowly down the stairs.
"Lady's and Gentleman, presenting, the elegant and majestic Cathrina O'Brian!" Cathy walked slowly down the stairs, her hand sliding gracefully down the banester.
"You look lovely Cathy!" Ryan exclaimed. Cathy felt herself blush.
"Thank You." Ryan and Cathy got their overcoats on and walked to the Ball.

----
"Done!" Kala announced.
"Finally," screamed Oridea in sarcasm. Standing up, she looked in the mirror and found herself staring at a figure that really didn't look like her at all.
"Great work cousin.." she murmured, still finding it unbelievable.

They said goodbye to their aunt and proceeded to the great hall.

i think they were there. i don't know where they are right now though. i've got to think of something...

~~~~~~~~~
Diamond moved uncertainly around the edge of the fight. The tavern was a wreck. Glass was shattered over the floor and tables had been overturned. Even the men who had not been involved in the fight at first had joined in. A man came for her but she avoided him. He grabbed her arm, twisting it painfully behind her back. Diamond stomped on his foot hard and he cried out in pain and rage but he loosened his grip. Diamond pulled free and turned to fight him. He glared at her and started for her again, but Jack came hurtling out of the crowd, tackling the man. Jack pulled the man back into the center of the fight. Diamond tugged on Jack's arm, "Jack, Jack we've got to go. We've got to be gone before the Keepers of the Peace get here. Where's Ivan?"
They looked around the brawling room. Jack spotted him and started towards him saying to Diamond, "Wait here."
Diamond moved away from the fray, closer to the door. She watched Jack speak quietly to Ivan and then they both looked towards the door. Diamond listened intently and over the noise of the fight she could hear a faint sound of marching feet. Jack and Ivan made their way hurriedly towards Diamond. She opened the back door and Ivan and Jack picked up their pace as the sound of marching feet stopped right outside the front door. The front door began to open and they ran for it. They ran through the door and Diamond jumped out after them slamming the door closed.
They stood in the alleyway behind the tavern. It was a dark night but what little light the moon gave allowed Diamond to see what was going on in the alley. Jack paced the middle and Ivan leaned against the wall frowning as he felt his bloodied lip. Jack stopped pacing and listened intently to what was happening in the tavern. He looked at Diamond and Ivan, "The others are ahead of us. We'd best get out of here before the KP arrive to search the alley."
The doornob behind Diamond rattled as someone checked to see if it was locked. Ivan's frown deepened, "I've never realized how annoying the KP can be."
Diamond couldn't help grinning, "Welcome to the world of the lower society. And if we don't hurry you'll find out what it's like to really be in the lower society."
They took off at an easy jog hoping they'd be able to find the others.
Cathy couldn't breath! The castle was glittering with gold and jewels. And everyone on the dance floor was just as happy as could be.
"Shalle we dance?" Ryan asked, offering Cathy his hand. Cathy smiled, and said, "I didn't know you could dance?"
"I do every now and again." he replied. She smiled, and took his hand. He escorted her down the stairs, and they joined in the next dance.
Lusha walked upstairs, and went to bed. She tried to get to sleep, but it was a hard task. Soon, sleep fell over her, and she drifted off into a dreamy slumber.
ok, thanks.
----
They mounted the steps into the great hall, with Llian waving at them a few steps above. A stream of people were entering, showing a mirad of colours that dazzled the eye.
Laughters broke out from all over the place, and muscians struck up a lively tune.
"The dancing hasn't started yet, want something to eat?" said Llian.
His sister and cousin nodded, they were in such a hurry to leave that they hadn't eaten much. Following Llian, they found their way to a long table laden with refreshments. Oridea took a few pieces of biscults and started nibbling on them.
After two dances, Cathy laughed and said, "Dancing is so much work! I'm famished!"
"Maybe some refreshments could help boost your energy back?" Ryan said smiling. Laughing, Cathy and Ryan walked to the table, pilled high with cakes and cookies, and fine wine. Cathy grabbed a small peice of chocolate cake.
"Don't you think chocolate is a little much?" Ryan asked.
"Chocolate is my weakspot. You set in front of me, and it'll be gone in two seconds." Cathy said, taking a bite of her cake.
Doanvin watched from a distance as Cathrina O'Brian danced with Ryan. Donavin glared at Ryan. He walked to the other side of the ball room, before getting up the nerve to ask Cathrina for a dance.
"Ms. O'Brian?" he asked. Cathrina turrned.
"Donavin!" she squeeled, and wrapped her arms around his neck.
"When did you get back?" she asked pulling away.
"Just now. I decided to come and watch the ball. And when I saw you, I just had to come say hello."
"I'm glad you did. Oh, I am so sorry. Donavin, this is Ryan. Ryan, this is Donavin. He helped father get his business going." Ryan and Donavin shook hands. Ryan smiled politly, while Donavin only half smiled.
"Nice to meet you." Ryan said. Donavin didn't say anything.
"Likewise I'm sure." Ryan whispered.
"Cathy, may I have this next dance?" Donavin asked.
"Absolutly. Ryan, meet me by the refreshment table." Cathy said, smiling. Ryan nodded, and walked over to the table, grabing a peice of chocolate cake.
"You look marvelous!" Donavin said. Cathy laughed.
"Oh, thank you." she said blushing. Suddenly, he stopped.
"I have something I need to tell you." he said. He took her by the hand, and led her outside the palace. Once outside,he handed her a letter.
"It was sent to me, and I was sent ot give it to you." he said. Cathy opened the letter and read it. She gasped and looked up at Donavin, her eyes filling with tears. He nodded.
"Who sent this?" she asked, a tear escaping her eye.
"Jonathan. He said he found their body's in their room, on the floor." Cathy wiped her eyes, and excused herself. She walked back into the palace, and got her coat. Ryan ran to her side.
"Where are you going?" he asked.
"I have to get home. Thank you for the dress Ryan, and thank you for taking me here. I had a nice time." She turrned and started to walk away.
"Some times I don't understand you." Ryan said. Cathy stopped and turrned.
"I mean, I invited you here to ask you something important, and right when I was going to, you go off with 'Donavin' and now you come back in here, and tell me you're leaving!" Ryan said, his eyes flashing with anger and pain.
"At least your parent's are still alive!" Cathy snapped. Cathy dropped the letter, and ran out the door and down the street.
Ryan picked up the letter and read it. He sighed with desperation. He grabbed his coat and ran out of the palace.
