I don't blame him though. We don't exactly get up the earliest, so to stick around long enough to watch her while I shower means he gets into work later than he'd prefer. I'm sure he wouldn't mind watching her if I took a shower in the evening, but I feel gross unless I take a shower in the morning, even if I took a shower the night before.

Also since we co-sleep, trying to wake up before she does generally doesn't work. She wakes up if I get up.

Now I get it, apologies to you DH.

Given the timing and all, I would prolly take her with me...less you can shwer while he is dressing (and watching her)?

I will try to keep this short. We didn't do much "child proofing" of our house. In fact we were the "child proofers". That is we kept our eyes and ears and noses and mummy radar and daddy radar in fine working order. We used child locks on the kitchen sink cupboard only for safety reasons.
In the lounge room we made a "Michele" cupboard. It was and still is Michele's special cupboard.
We also did this in the kitchen. We didn't worry about her getting into the pots pans and plastics. Though I must admit it sure was annoying picking up plastics all the time. And pots and pans sure do make a lot of noise in the hands of a 12 month old.
Hey, a kids got to explore.
And I will be rude here. What's the kid doing in the bathroom or laundry unattended? Those who allow this ought to be drawn and quartered.

Unattended? or following a 4 year old and 2 year old sibling in?

Childproofinmg is not meant to replace a parent, it is simply to help reduce the damage that can be done in the split second.

Just because I have outlet covers doesn't mean I don't teach my kids not to touch them.

Just because I have door locks on my garbage doesn't mean I don't teach my kid to leave it shut.

Same with all other childproofing I do in the bathroom, I still teach my kids to wash hands after touching a potty, I just make sure it is bleached frequently so that the missed hand is not going to mean rotvirus every week.

As for the laundry, my baby crawls in after while my oldest is emtying the dryer....I suppose I could keep him out, but why? I want him to want to empty the dryer (and besides I am helping DD empty the dishwasher) then we can all go play :) (chemicals are out of reach-to short to reach the inside of the washer is too short to put soap in)

I have kept her out of the bathroom so far when I'm not in there, but my DH is getting tired of watching her when I take a shower, so I was thinking of letting her play in the bathroom while I'm in the shower, in which case it would need to be childproofed.
I just spotted this one. When Michele was younger my wife would put her in Michele's pram and have the pram in the bathroom. Now when I am not home Stephanie takes Michele into the shower and they shower together. I might add I do this as well. I have no problem showering with my little girl. Of course there are certain parts of the body that are off limits and Michele knows this. I know some people have problems with showering but I don't and neither does my wife.

What's the 2 and 4 year old doing wandering around on their own.
You are correct child proofing doesn't replace parent. Neither should it. However, good and diligent parenting may help prevent damage that may be done. As a good parent it is our responsibilty to know exactly what and where are children are and what they are doing.
If you know where your children are then you will be able to teach them NOT to touch the outlets.
We don't have locks on our garbage. We teach Michele what to do and when.
If you baby follows the oldest into the laundry my question would be: is this child responsible and old enough to watch out for the baby and if not what is that child doing in the laundry in the first place?
Again, and I have said this before, as parents it is our responsibility to watch out for our children. We can acomplish 2 things at once. We prevent bad behaviour BEFORE it starts and then becomes a habit.
I can't talk for others but we have prevented so many things going wrong simply by engaging with the children. Not only that we get to enjoy our children. We do things together. Whether it is play or work. In fact we make work play.

I wonder if you have a differnet laundry situation than I do?............
