My daughter turns 1 at the end of next month. It's really crept up on me. and I am thinking maybe some time over the next 2 weeks of going in and putting on a laybuy for her.

Has anyone got any ideas of what to get a one year old girl. She has most types of toys because I never really gave away any thing belonging to her older brother. (I gave away a lot of clothes but not the toys) so most types of toys you would give to a one year old she already has.

I was thinking maybe a dolls house, even though she's a little young, it's something that can be put away for later.

But then I was also thinking that might be better for Christmas or maybe even next year.

Any ideas.

My son got a little toy piano (which is now Emily's lol) so she doesn't need a piano. She also has a shape sorter, one of those stacking things with the rings, toy telephone, lots of soft toys etc.

I bought Breanna a baby-sized swing set for her first birthday. Came with a slide and everything! She doesn't care for the swing anymore, but still loves to spend all day going up and down the slide! I also got her a bunch of clothes (yeah, that's more like a present for myself, but still! lol).

How about an add-a-pearl necklace? We did this for our daughter's first birthday. Then every year, you add a pearl (sometimes two if you have to balance it.) It can be the "something old" she wears on her wedding day. http://addapearl.com/

We did this because our daughter got so many gifts from family and friends for her first birthday. We liked the idea of something she would treasure one day.

Thanks for those ideas.

She already has a car (2 in fact, one is like a little bike thing, and the other is a little tikes one, on long term loan from a friend of ours who most likely won't have any more kids, mind you the little bike belonged to ds but he is too big now, and the car he can still use)

Yeah, I like the idea of a rocking horse. Nice idea.

Oh I didn't know that was still around. I have mine from when I was a baby and my daughters have worn it on different occassions.

Mine got a rocking chair from one grandma and a toybox from the other. I got both a baby doll and they loved them. OOHH how about a kitchen and or some dishes. I also like the riding toys and since it's close to summer do you have a sandbox or a water table.

It's nearly winter here. Yep we have a sand pit. (just one of those clam shell ones) that my ds plays in. I think she's a little young for it yet.

No water table but I have seen them around.

I wouldn't spend a lot of money. One year old is still really young so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Maybe you can think of something she loves... if she loves animals.. take her to the zoo.. or buy her a puppy.

if she loves painting and drawing.. that kinda stuff.. maybe get a whole heaps of arty craft type stuff and she can play with that

if she likes dancing to kids shows on tv why not buy her a kids DVD?
