The Bible seems to teach that Jesus was moved into the position of Lordship. Some Christians debate whether Jesus could have ever been made lord if he were the Lord in the first place. As long as you say that Jesus is Lord of all, the only Savior of mankind, and the only begotten son of God (whatever that means! ), there is no good reason for others to doubt your salvation, because the Bible says that you must agree with the above things, but there is no passage that says, "You must confess that Jesus is God." There is room for debate there. But He IS Lord!
- Jesus existed before he came to earth, he is eternal with God. He is the savior of both new and old testament believers. Salvation comes by faith. Know that the Lord
IS God.
- Jesus was recognized as the Lord.
Deuteronomy 4: 35
You were shown these things so that you might know
that the Lord is God; besides him there is no other
Psalm 100:3
Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
- Who is the Lord? Who is the Christ ?
Acts 2: 36
"Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified,
both Lord and Christ.
- If Jesus was not God, could he receive a man's spirit ?
Acts 7:59
While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed,
"Lord Jesus, receive my spirit."
- God is the Lord over all. So if Jesus is also the Lord of ALL, what does that say?
- How could he be Lord of ALL if he was not God ?
Acts 10:36
You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, telling the good news of peace through
Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.
- Can anyone but God save us? This verse says that the grace of JESUS saves us. He must be God.
Acts 15:11
We believe it is
through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are."
- Can eternal life be through any other than God himself ? Jesus is God, that is why we have eternal life through Christ.
Romans 5:21
so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring
eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
- There is power in the name of God. God's name is Jesus
1 Corinthians 5:4
When you are assembled in the name of our Lord Jesus and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our Lord Jesus is present,
- Who recieves Glory forever? Jesus, who is God.
2 Peter 3:18
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory
both now and forever! Amen.
- Who is equal with God? Surely not us, we have not oneness with God. Jesus has oneness with God because he is God.
John 10:30
I and the Father are one."
- Who is the ONLY Lord? Jesus, who is one with God.
Jude 1:4
For certain men whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny
Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.
- God and Jesus are distinct, yet share the same throne. They are one. There is unity in God himself, in both forms of father and son. Jesus says to come to him.
- You cannot honor God without honoring Jesus, because Jesus and God are one. Jesus is God. To honor God, honor Christ.
Matthew 11:27-28
"All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
John 5:22-23
Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father.
He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.
- Even the people back then didn't understand what it meant for Jesus to talk about the Father; the same way we dispute it today
John 8:27-28
They did not understand that he was telling them about his Father. So Jesus said, "When you have lifted up the Son of Man,
then you will know that I am the one I claim to be and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me.
- Who is worthy of receiving glory from God? Surely not us, but only Christ, because Jesus is God, God is in the business of giving glory to himself, which is why we exist
John 8:54
Jesus replied, "If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing. My Father, whom you claim as your God,
is the one who glorifies me.
Am I making any sense at all or was this all a big waste of time? The whole idea of the God thing in the first place is that God exists and we believe in him. God chose to use the person of Jesus Christ to show himself. Jesus was both human and God. This is how God chose to redeem us, himself in the person of Christ. I say that people should not bother with Jesus Christ if they cannot recognize who he is in the first place!!
Trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the Lord. The Lord is God.
