Bob was there working, some project of his
Stunned to see me in Florida like this.
He had his friends there admiring his work
But all I could think was, “Kathy’s heart hurts!”


He told me where you were back down the hall
This was weird, I’m at your house after all.
Afraid to go to her, don’t want her mad
She’s one of the best friends I ever had.

And the real fact is, my heart aches for her
Because I know that her pain is for sure.
She has been burned so very, very deep
So much pain in her life has cost her sleep.

Wanted to show her the depths of my love
But didn’t want to push my sweet, sweet dove.
Before I could say, “Don’t know what to do!”
Sensed someone behind me, turned to see you.

Embraced you with love to show you my pain
Embraced you with love, ‘cause you are my friend.
We cried as we hugged, there in that odd room.
I cry as I type, tears from my own gloom.
