Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane
Matthew 26:43-46
Verse 43: And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.
Verse 44: And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.
Verse 45: Then cometh he unto his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
Verse 46: Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me.
How many times have the LORD told us to pray or to wake us up from a sleep and to pray, but we say were too sleepy. If youre not sleepy, start reading the Bible and you will. This is the only scripture where we find Jesus repeating the same prayer. This was because of the conflict between God and Satan over the life of Christ. The devil tried to kill Christ before he could get to the cross. If Satan could have succeeded in killing Christ from infancy to before the cross he could have defeated Gods plan of redemption. Christ had to get to the cross where He spoiled satanic powers and triumphed over them. The time had come for his betrayal and He told them to sleep on. Dont wait too late to pray, my friends.
