So you are a catholic.

And im fairly sure you got a straight answer, yes you will go to hell. Unless, imo, you convert to judaism.

God Bless, metal.

I didn't get a straight answer or the desired theological discussion, I got a long topic about why I am a heretic, why Islam is wrong and why I will be going to hell.

Whether or not I am personally struggling with maintaining one faith over another is really of no concern for the topic.

Interesting, Hotmetal. So, you can be saved without Christ, if you are Jewish?

I will never understand this logic, "No other religon saves, except Judaism." Christ said, "No one can come to the Father, except through Me." He made no exceptions for Jews, in fact quite the opposite, He was speaking to Jews when He said this. The temple is destroyed, they couldn't even practice according to the Old Covenant if they wanted to.

Told you i was criticised for this :)

Ummm because I believe that God hasnt finished with the Jews. Romans 11 speaks about the abrahamic covenant.

Throughout history the Jews, often a small group, have been persecuted. More recently the holocaust. Why? Because theyre gods chosen people.
Today I believe that we are, but God hasnt finished with the jews. I believe that Jews will go to heaven if they carry on with the law, but as a result their relationship is one of law, and they wont have the advantage of the holy spirit.

God Bless, metal... Just my view :)

Romans clearly states (i dont have time for a scripture, sorry, but its there) that those who have never heard about what Jesus did for them at the cross will be JUDGED on their CONSCIENCE

chapter and verse please?

Stray Bullet, I don't know what your motive was/is with this thread. It would seem it is simply an attempt to show Christians in a bad light. Hense you have twisted and taken out of context the replies you received so as to make it look like you were unloved and/or mistreated by those who replied.

People saw your post and assumed (rightly) that you are a Christian (Catholic symbol) who is possibly considering a different religion.

Christians see a brother or sister in Christ who may be losing faith or being misguided by someone, and they will react PASSIONATELY out of Love.
You can twist it any way you like but the shear number of replies this thread received in a short period of time is testament to the love.

Whether you know it or not God loves you, and He has provided a way for you to get to know Him, and yes even a way to spend eternity in Heaven WITH Him. The way that is done is by knowing His beloved Son Jesus The Christ. It is a gift offered freely out of His love for you, me and every other human being. Simply knowing that this gift is available does nothing for you or for God. The gift must be accepted with a loving, humble and respectful attitude, then both you and God will be overflowing with joy. I firmly believe God rejoices every time a person becomes one of His children, rather than just another one of His creations. The gift is there, will you accept it?

Forgive me if I end up repeteing someone else but I don't have time to read the whole thread. It is my belief that God commands us to serve and worship Him the way he ordered us to. There is only one way to do this, not several.

Luke 16:13, No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
stray bullet, you can only serve one master and in the way he orders you to serve him. It makes no sense to serve a master in a way another master has commanded you to serve him for then you are not serveing the master that you want to serve but are serveing a totally different master.

Also, look at this passage:
Matthew 12:25, And jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdon divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand
Once a person decides to latch onto two different beliefs or religions he has divided that one command that God gave to serve him. God has said that the city, house, or person who has divided itself will not stand.

Very well put! yet, unfortunately, most people don't humble themselves in front of God before they are brought to their knees in despiration. It's only when people are at the end of their ropes and have nowhere else to go that they will ever cry out for Jesus to come in.

Amazing grace how sweet the sound, that saved a retch like me, once I was lost but know I am found, was blind but now I see!

Actually, if you take the whole of Rom. 2 in context, you see that Paul is saying that even those who have not heard are responsible, because the Law is written in our hearts.

There is one thing that we are all responsible for, keeping the Law. Anyone who does not do this deserves damnation.

Right, the whole purpose of the law is to show us that we are not worthy. It is a means to show us that we need forgiveness in order to know God. Yet even if we never heard of the law we know it because it is written in our hearts. Subconsciously we know we are not right with God and are unworthy of communion with him.

Specifically Romans 2:14, but the whole chapter makes it relevant.

God Bless, metla.

I'll give it a read later when things quiet down around here.
If it says what you say it says that kinda blows the thought that Christians can hasten Christs 2nd coming by spreading The Gospel to all.

Absolutely not, it was to discuss whether or not people who leave Christianity will go to hell. I felt it would be an interesting topic, especially since I wonder whether or not it is really considered rejection.

Hense you have twisted and taken out of context the replies you received so as to make it look like you were unloved and/or mistreated by those who replied.

I didn't ask for love. If I wanted that I'd go over to one of the other forums, tell them of my troubles and ask to be prayed for. I think it is wonderful people do care about the spiritual well-being of people here, but I don't like to be accused of being a heretic, not believing in the bible, considering converting and told that I was never a Christian.. all for opening a topic and admitting that I, like everyone else, has moments of doubt.

People saw your post and assumed (rightly) that you are a Christian (Catholic symbol) who is possibly considering a different religion.

Where did I say I was considering another one though?

You can twist it any way you like but the shear number of replies this thread received in a short period of time is testament to the love.

What was loving about any of the replies? Being told I'm going to hell and was never a Christian? Yeah, that's just the thing to convince me to stay.

I'm a Christian.

A house divided against itself will not stand! If people reject Jesus Christ how can the answer be anything but yes, they will go to hell? How can you even be confused about this? You should know already that Jesus is the only way, is the only truth, and is the only life. If people reject that message then they are lost. If they believe this yet also believe there are other ways, other truths, and other lifes then their house will not stand!

The title of the thread is "will I go to hell if I convert to another religion". With a title like that, surely you understand why people would assume that it is you yourself who is considering converting.

Since you asked the question "will I go to hell if I convert..", you have no reason to be upset that some people answered "yes". If you weren't prepared for a "yes" answer, if you only wanted a "no" answer, you should have just asked yourself this question or gone to a forum in which people would be more likely to give you the answer you want.

My point: Don't ask the question if you don't want to hear people's opinions.

No where did I say or suggest anything of the sort. People are free to comment their belief as to whether or not people who reject or leave Christianity will go to heaven.

The problem was that it immediately became about me and my need to be saved for even asking such a question.

Yes, I admit that at times I feel like I am being pulled between Christianity and Islam and I wonder if I will always maintain my faith. This fact has nothing to do with the creation of the topic, except in that I've begun to think about my old concern about people who leave Christianity for another faith. If I was looking for help or prayers, there are plenty of other forums here with wonderful people for that. Instead, I was looking for a topic to give me ideas and scripture on the topic of faith change and salvation.

In retrospect, I should not have used "I" in the topic title instead of "a person" to make it clear I wanted a theological discussion.

Got it? :)

I got it from the beginning, now lets start the real discussion! LOL, no better time than late... :)

Once a person decides to latch onto two different beliefs or religions he has divided that one command that God gave to serve him. God has said that the city, house, or person who has divided itself will not stand.

Now what do you say stray bullet?
