My name is Brad, I am currently serving as Youth Pastor and in eldership training...I also work full-time, I am a Vice President of Local Bank where I live. My wife and I are part of a local Fellowship of Believers @ Harvest Christian Fellowship...
The most important thing I have learned in being a minister is to lay yourself on the throne room floor...if you think you are called to preach, then lay it down first, don't pick it up and try to find a place or time to preach..I spent years trying to find out where I fit in, and where I could preach to people, always looking for a door to get in...The moment I layed aside my personal desires and wants, the Lord began to open doors in which HE used ME to do HIS will...I now don't even try to figure out what God is wanting to do in my life, I just try to get out of the way, and let HIM live through me (Gal. 2:20 ) It took some time to figure out God is not concerned about us "Living for HIM" as much as "HE wants to live through us"...there is a BIG difference between the two...Anyway I am encouraged to hear how many young people on here are already ministering...PEACE--

well, i wasnt surprised when the names it listed of the leaders of the word of faith movement happened to end up being most all of the great men and women i look up to, and will not come short of saying that i do esteem them as great.
you can call them heretics or whatever you like. but we certainly do not come short in our biblical debates on why we beleive the way we do. the very words of jesus prove without a doubt to me that the word of faith movement is the truth.

though i will say this,
i certainly do not agree with all the diffrent teachings and doctrines that have come from men and women of the word of faith movement.
for example
"i certainly do not agree that faith means you no longer need your prescriptions"
there are many doctrines that have come from pentecostal people that i will never agree with.
i do admit many pentecostal people seem to take it to far.
but it is not fault of the word of faith movement or pentecostalism, as there are people in every denomination that stray from the standard teachings of that denomination and end up teaching things that arent true. so, pentecostalism cant be centered out there, becuase everyone else has fruits flakes and nuts too.

i here people call me and people like me heretics alot, but anyone can make claims like that, and no matter whos mouth it comes from it doesnt mean anything unless you can prove it with the word, and i dont beleive that is possible. ive gotten use to it, and i dont even care anymore, i just take it and forget it, in one ear and out the other, becuase it is so easy to call someone a heretic, you need no degree or bible college diploma, so it doesnt really matter. even jesus was called a heretic, (im not saying that means im right) so that proves being called a heretic doesnt mean your wrong.

i can call you a heretic just as quickly as you can me. though im sure youd have some sort of foundation for your beleife, as do i.

sorry if that seemed defensive, i really didnt mean it that way.
im just use to hearing statements like the one you gave.
and it really doesnt effect me anymore.
if you want to really get down and discuss these issues over the word of god, i am willing, but thats the only thing i even give my attention to anymore.

and just to let you know,

kenneth hagin has said things i do not agree with.
and i really dont know anyone who has never said anything i disagree with.

and i do not find the summary of the word of faith movements doctrine (given by your pasted document) to be true.
i am simply saying this becuase i agree that many teachings, and some that you named coming from the word of faith movements leaders arent true.

so, just dont stereotype me as a snake handler, or one who thinks adam could fly, or one who thinks we are little gods. though the bible did make that statement, and in the sense it was made in, it is true.
the church has enough fruits flakes and nuts already.
there is a fine line between the great promises of gods word, and utter silliness, and pentecostals sometimes come dangerously close to falling over it.
but not all pentecostals are this way.

CRI stands for Christian Research Institute.


I am not "labeling you" but as I posted I just thought I would present a different point of view of the word of faith movement. In know way was I trying to group you or call you heretical or stereotyping you, I was speaking on the idea itself.

I'm a university student full time (22 years old), but I also coordinate, and at the moment lead, the campus ministry. Which is an interesting challenge.

I'm also involved in the youth ministries at my church, from very young kids to the high school young adults group.

This looks like a great site, nice to meet you all.

Hi, my name is Barbara and I'm 48 years old and have known the Lord since I was a small child, around 3 or 4 years old. I have never backslid, although I have made a few really bad choices.

I was in a christian singing group at 15 and we travelled around to different churches to minister. After that I teamed up with another girl from church and we travelled around to different churches and sang for youth groups. I was also the president of the youth group at my church.

In my 20's I joined another singing group that travelled.

Sometime later, I started a children's choir at my church. It was hard work but I loved it. Working with kid's, especially musically, is where my heart is.

When I changed churches in my 30's I started the children's music ministry there.

When I had to move from there, the next church I went to I taught children's church and was also part of the worship team in the main service. I play the guitar and obviously love to sing.

At my current church, I have been part of the worship team but am not right now. I lead the women's fellowship on Saturday nights at my home. It's small right now, but will grow.

Even though I'm not part of the worship team the Lord uses me musically in the prophetic word of the Lord. In other words, the Lord sings over us and He uses me to do it. I enjoy it very much, it is always an adventure. To bring forth what God has for the people for that moment is awesome.

I love God with my whole heart and grow closer as I get older.

As an older christian, what I would say to younger one's wanting to be in the ministry is . . . keep your focus on God and your relationship with God. When the time is right the doors will open.

Don't ever think that your so busy that time with Him can be passed off. Don't ever think that your knowledge of scripture will get you by. Your knowledge will fool you if the relationship with God goes dry.

Study is important but is not the same as fellowship. God want's to reveal things from His Word that you've never seen before. Even though something was written for "them" does not mean it does not convey a message to "us".

Real preaching will come from God's heart to your heart to the people's heart. Out of your fellowshipping with God will come the heart of God. Coupled with knowledge of His Word will make it powerful.

I have a heart for truth and unity among the body of believers. There is a lot of bickering amongst believers that should not be.

Instead of bringing a 3rd party onto the scene we should investigate the situation on our own. Not through the eyes of someone else. CRI has reported things about people that were not true. I know because I knew those people.

CRI is informative on many issues but we should always check out their referrence to see if their estimation of the issue is true. We should do that with everyone who tells us things about fellow believers. Especially, when the things they're telling are derogatory.

We are called to bless each other, not curse. The reason I would not talk with these kinds of people is because they've already put the wall up by saying "I'd like to discuss with you your false teaching" instead of "I'd like to discuss with you your teachings".

Most of the time I believe the problem is we have just not listened to each other. If we did we would find that we agree with each other more than we think and our opinions would become more balanced with God's.

Anyway, I can tend to be long winded. I love God.

 I just wanted to say BLESS ya ALL!

I realy can't introduce myself as there isn't anything to tell But... i can say alot about Yeshua/Jesus, because everthing is realy ALL about HIM anyway! HE allowed this x-sinner to live so I could which others recieve the HOLY Spirit, thru Him, the WORD, that is my testimony and the way that I overcome, by the blood of the LAMB ( a done deal ) NOW its up to the WORD going forth, thru us, restoring the lost sheep unto the fold! 

More about Him : four years ago He/Yeshua/Jesus gave to me a NEW liver, a NEW kidney, a NEW set of lungs, and a NEW set of lungs along with a blood transfusion with His blood! I had had 3 heartattacks and a stroke before He finaly drew me unto Himself. I do praise Him NOW and forever!

If you children of the only ONE and Living True GOD, will check out a web site He found for me. It will answer some prayers that some of you were wanting, answered, via the Holy child Jesus. About all there is to tell is He/Yeshua/Jesus is the same, yesterday, today and FOREVER, that HIS [w]HOLY Spirit is still 'seeking and saving the lost', setting the captives Totally free From sin by His Holy Spirit/Attitude/Disposition. He is still loosing to bonds of the fallen, carnal nature by entire sanctification and replacing the 'old man' with HIS Divine Nature/Himself. 1Pet.3:4

  This He did 2000 years ago on the tree by freeing BELIEVERS from SIN and the which we WERE sanctified by One offering, and HE perfected forever them that HE sanctified. Heb. 10:10 & 14. this is the message that was the cernter of Paul's revelation which we bring to the streets. We, a growing band of bond servants, MINISTER at the flea market, downtown, beaches etc..
When we not doing this we at the local Salvation Army Mission, watching the Word, set the 'lost' into HIS TRUTH that a total change of thinking (via the WORD) producing a TOTAL life change, from sinner to saint.  I will brag about HIS power to set ALL who believe, FREE

This was a good thread. Sorry to see it inactive for so long.

OK, I'm Phil an I'm 16 and this is my story. I felt the calling that God wanted me to go into his ministy. I don't know where I am supposed to be but I have faith that God will show me where to go. I have known the Lord all my life. I think it is very special because there have been many people in my family who have used their life to further God's kingdom, and I would like to do the same. 

i dunno if i heard wrong but are wemon not allowed in ministry, i'd really like to but i dunno if some of the people i know would be behind me....and have yall ever felt as if people dont listen to you?? i do i feel like when i say stuff people atomatically turn off their listening ears....i guess i seem dull but oh well. god loves me.
