How much credence should we put on those who have had visions of God, Heaven, angels, loved ones, bright lights, etc. as a result of a near-death experience?

Has anyone actually had a near-death experience?

I recently read an interesting book titled "My Descent Into Death" by Howard Storm. What do you make of stories such as his and others who claimed to have met Jesus?

But what should we make of these experiences? You cannot deny that people have them and that their lives have changed. Howard Storm was an athiest before his experience. What exactly is going on when someone has an NDE?

Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit. (Matt. 12:24-37)
A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. (Matt. 7:18)

If his NDE brought him to Christ then it must be from God.

There are many explanations for NDE's. Some are thought to be medication induced. Others who believe in no God or afterlife think it's just the activity of a dying brain, etc. Aside from those that may be caused by drugs or other physical causes, I think there are three kind of real NDE's. True Christians sometimes get a real glimpse of heaven. The lost get a real glimpse of hell (Dr. Maurice Rawlings, cardiologist was once rescusitating a patient who screamed that he was in hell), and there are the deceptions.

Let's focus on that a moment. In many cases what do you hear? A person has an accident, heart attack, etc. They leave their body and move through a tunnel of light into a beautiful blissful place. They're met by a being of light radiating love and no judgment. After an experience like this, the person is no longer afraid of death sometimes and fully expects to be welcomed into this wonderful place upon death. The kicker is that many of these people aren't Christians, they haven't accepted Christ, they AREN'T saved. So either the experience is a lie or the Bible is a lie. Satan can appear as an angel of light and his ministers as ministers of righteousness. He uses these experiences to deceive the unsaved into thinking everyone is going to a good place no matter what. The Bible plus the fact of hellish NDE experiences prove otherwise. Any lost, unsaved person that has a good NDE experience is being deceived.

I am writing this from the prospective of a Internal Medicine Physician. I have treated many patients who have been revived from near death. I will look at medical research and Biblical Truths. - author

I put very little credence into NDEs-it is too easy for Satan to confuse and deceive others through NDEs. Ever notice how non-Christians have "positive" NDEs too? If these non-Christians are truely experiencing the afterlife then they would not have these "positive" experiences.

so what about those who have had a NDE that neither saw heaven nor hell but floated above looking down on their lifeless body and as soon as they looked into their own lifeless eyes fought their way back to their body to live again? does this mean their soul is damned to remain on earth as a ghost? ive never gotten a legitimate answer for that one from anyone.

Who thinks oxygen deprivation in conjunction with an anaesthetic just might cause people to hallucinate?

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. I don't think traumatised, drug influenced, oxygen deprived wishful thinkers rises to the level of extraordinary evidence.

My NDE might have nothing to do with dreams or oxygens. Because a demon chased me back when I was already in the reality side and with a clear mind being able to do calculus.

So all left is the question that can you have dreams while doing calculus correctly under the witness of others on the reality side?

Of course, later on I met with our Lord Jesus to have my doubts cleared up.

Haha..I made the scenario abit exaggerated. But still it's quite analogue to what actually happened.
