I've always wondered about this. Heaven means many things to many people, but from reading scripture before Adam and Eve sinned, there were a few things that stood out:

-They had no rules except not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

-They were imperishable, meaning they lived forever.

"For God formed man to be imperishable; the image of his own nature he made him. But by the envy of the devil, death entered the world, and they who are in his possession experience it." (Wisdom 2:23-24)

-God made it known that the Law was created not for the righteous, but for the unrighteous.

"as knowing this, that law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers." (1 Timothy 1:9)

So if that's the case, what is Heaven going to be like? Does it mean that Adam and Eve had no capacity to do evil because they didn't know what it was? Or does it mean that since they were righteous, nothing they did (aside from eating from that tree) could be considered evil?

For instance does that mean there is no stealing or does it mean that stealing is no longer evil? (i.e. everything is shared)

I believe that Heaven is everything that is "of God" as opposed to Hell which is everything which is not of God.

Since everything that is made is of God and therefore Good Heaven is going to be good by default. And I am not talking of compartively good like we think of in an earthly sense "this is good because that is bad" but because it is "of God".

In the beginning everything was good because it is of God. But to fall short of Good makes it corrupt, imperfect and so sin and evil enters in.

To fall short of Gods law creates sin.
Sin leads to death and death is destruction.

A way to learn of Heaven is to think of Hell.

Hell is the place where God knows you not.
It is the very existance of non existance (think about that).
It is a place where nothing is of God. A place of complete destruction. We cannot even imagine what complete destruction is but it must be bad because it is not "of God".

Heaven is of God and therefore is good.
Since Godly good is perfect everything is perfect. Nothing can fall short (and this is where salvation comes into it).

There is no gray, everything is either black or white.

What is Heaven like? (Assuming that's where we go)

I don't know for sure, but I have a few hopes...
We will enjoy Christ our redeemer.
We'll meet up with loved ones.
Caramel Latte's are free and don't make you fat.
Everybody agrees with you.
I will be a Much better guitar player.
My mansion will never get dusty.
You can sleep in as long as you want.
Your kids won't talk back to you.
The parking spot closest to where you are going is always open.

I didn't want to bore you with a whole bunch of scripture references, so I left them out.

Cheers,
Rick

Heaven is a planet. It is about 4 light years away from the Earth. When you approach heaven you will see what appears to be a lush garden, covered in flowers of orange, red, purple, white, pink and blue. There is a single river of crystal clear water flowing through. There are trees along the banks of the river that contain a copper colored fruit. There are mountains and in the distance you will see a magnificent city of gold.

The city is surrounded by a wall that is 400 ft high and 50 ft thick. The wall is made of pure gold and it spans 160 miles by 160 miles. There are gates into the city that are 20 feet high by 16 feet wide. They are made of pure gold and are covered with huge pearls and prescious stones. There are diamonds and rubies that are 6 inches in diameter. The largest pearls measure 4 feet in diameter. Inside the gates lies a magnificent city made of gold, crystal and prescious stones. There is one street called the "Street of The Appostles". It is where the mansions of those who were righteous for the Lord are. In the very center of the city is the temple that houses the throne of God the Father. It rises 700 feet above the ground, and from it, the Glory of The Lord lights up everything. There are no shadows in heaven.

There are just over 750 million souls in Heaven today. They spend their time singing and praising God, serving each other and studying the "word" . There is a different bible in Heaven, called the "Heavenly Bible". It is kept up to date with information about the earth, it's people and the church. There are some modern day "apostles", whos names appear in that Bible.

The spirits in Heaven are spirit, but appear as normal, physycal people. They wear beautiful white robes or gowns. There are "Robes of Righteousness" and "Gowns of Redemption". The Robes of Righteousness are reserved for those who served the lord in a true and righteous way. Only Jesus and the elders have the supernatural, immortal bodies that we will all eventually get.

I hope that this gives you an idea is to what Heaven is like.

I had a crazy dream once about a trip towards heaven/my judgement. My dream was me and my older brother walking on this boat to sail to sea, and while we are walking I was talking to him and every thing was fine, and it was a sunny day, and kind of cold, and all of sudden, this huge wind came and took me in the air and I kept going up further and further in the sky, I was so high up in the sky, I remember going up and through the clouds, and it was really scary, becuase I had no control. I remember thinking in this dream, like oh no, it cant be my time, I haven't been that good of a person, in my life to deserve to go to heaven. Then I woke up in sweat lol. Just crazy Dream I guess, lol it felt real though. That dream made me think that my time could be up at any moment, and I should be ready at all times.

I honestly don't mean to be rude, but this is a joke, right? Where do you get the idea that heaven is a planet 4 light years away from Earth? Where in Scripture do you find warrant for limiting the population of heaven to 750 million people? Why would you claim that those in heaven are spirit, and only appear to be physical?

All biblical indications point toward heaven being here on Earth. Note that in Revelation 21 the heavenly city, the New Jerusalem, descends from above to the Earth, thus suggesting that God intends to unite heaven and earth, making them one. And given that there is a general bodily resurrection in the end and that Jesus rose bodily, seemingly making a special point of establishing to his disciples that he was still very much physical, as well as the Hebrew emphasis on physical existence, and finally that Paul specifically explains that we will all be changed to be like the risen Christ, receiving imperishable, incorruptible bodies in place of the perishable and corruptible bodies we have now, everything appears to indicate that we will, not just appear to be physical, but will be actually physical. This is pretty much what 1 Corinthians 15 is all about.

This is no joke! Heaven is a planet as I have heard and believe testimony of somebody who has been there and returned. I never said that the population is LIMITED to 750 million. I said that that is what the population is NOW. Those in Heaven remain as spirit UNTIL they receive their new bodies which will be at the time of the Rapture. After that, we will be physical.

I believe we will all be united living amonst the fur of a giant space wombat, which spans the universe in an endless ellipse. It gives birth to universes every 15 years and everyone will eat chocolate and it's christmas everyday. :p

Seriously though ;) I used to have a recurrent dream of a little corner of heaven where I could go fishing, there were vast oceans and mountains and I had a swing chair on a bridge which spanned a massive chasm with a beautiful waterfall rushing nearby and everywhere was filled with light (no sun) and rainbows. Sweet smells of roses lined the bridge and the sky was blue with birds flying everywhere and I'd get visitors who I would chat to on the chair swing. there was a forest on either side of the chasm and one route lead to a meadow with a huge tree on a hill where i would lay in the long grass and stare up at the soft white clouds drifting by and on the other side of the chasm was a woody glade with a pond with loads of different fishes in it and there were loads of little animals that were tame and friendly. I loved that dream and still think of it as my little safe haven ;)

Sorry,, but that is like WAYYYYYY out there in left field, and has no scriptural backing. If this were so, then we wouldn't need Jesus to get to heaven, just a really good spaceship!

We may never know what Heaven is like because we will not be there. Heaven is God's domain where he keeps the records (Book of Life) and our rewards.

Our eternal home will be the New Earth (perhaps with occasional visits to the New Jerusalem). Read Rev.21.

I'm with you. Makes perfect sense. Hang on... the mother ship is calling - Be right back

It is true, and YES, you still need jesus to get to heaven, for even if you did have a really good spaceship, your path would be blocked, unless you had Jesus.
