I can't believe the timing of this poem...my grandmother died this week at the age of 97. She'd had a stroke and for 3 weeks was unable to swallow very well and had to be fed through a tube. She couldn't communicate with us, and for this last week, slept 90 percent of the time. The emotions expressed in this poem capture the true experience so well. Grandma loved the Lord, and had wanted to be with Jesus since January. It was hell watching her suffer knowing that she wanted to be with her Lord. On the other hand, we knew we will miss her greatly. But he finally took her, and we laid her mortal shell in teh ground today. But she now walks with the King!

Thank you so much for your comment Slave2SinNoMore, that's just the feeling that I was trying to capture. I'm sorry for your loss. I understand it as well, because yesterday was the third anniversary of my grandfather's death. I still miss him, but knowing that he's in heaven is a great comfort. Some people might read this poem and think that it's morbid, but it isn't, not when you are viewing it from a Christian perspective. I would welcome comments from anyone else as well.
