Let me ask you something, have you ever encouraged anyone? What do you do in the church? How many lives have you touched with a word, your example? Yes you have a purpose in this life and if you dont know it then press in to hear what the spirit is saying, He may not reveal your purpose but I am sure He will use a willing vessel
Amen, bill...

Purpose is found in service... unless you set your hand to the plough...

Hello, snup

My response to your original question is that my purpose in life is to obey the commandments Jesus spoke of in Matthew 22:37-40.....

"'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

Don't mistake, the purpose of our existance, with the purpose of our life. We in ourselves have no value, accept to the one who creates. We have missed our purpose and takin on a life (style) that doesn't fulfill God's plan. Yes God wants us to die. All of our hope, ambitions, plans, must come to an end.

WE HAVE NO POWER, OR ABILITY THAT CAN GLORIFY GOD.

So how are we to fulfill the purpose for our existance (not for our live)? By agreeing with God that our life has no value and agreeing to allow God to bury us. So that we can be resurrected to NEWNESS of life. We cannot simple try to live out the life of Christ, because that won't work. Only death opens the door to rebirth.

for those who didn't read the whole thread this is what I posted to explain what I am wanting to talk about.

The real problem for most christians is that they actually believe that their works have value, when God refers to those activities as wood hay and stubble. They cling to their self imposed religion thinking that it has value but really they are the thing of value.

I think that you have missed my point.

And maybe that is the point.
God's purpose for me is that Christ life if lived and not mine. This nessesitates that our life be destroyed. Now am I really talking about blessing people or chasing God, or worship? No, I am talking about living a life that is not Christ lead, just Christ inspired. Now the real question is, are you Christ lead, or just Christ inspired?
How does one tell the differance? Is there a differance?

If I go to a church that is full of people doing good things, is that good enough for God?

Christ lead or Christ inspired???? That is a good question. I pray that as I am inspired by Him that I can allow Him to lead me in the direction that He wants.

I know that one time He told me not to worry so much as to if I was doing what He wanted or not...that as long as I kept my eyes on Him that my feet would go where He wanted them to go.

Sometimes I guess we can get so caught up in the doing of His leadings that we get our eyes off of Him and don't see Him move on to more/other things and we find ourselves feverishly working the work that He's no longer leading us to do.

Personally, I think both inspirement and leading need to be there. If I'm not inspired I don't know that I can be led. But then again, there are many Biblical accounts of those who were led before they were inspired. And some I think never even really were inspired...at least not in the heart...I'm at the moment thinking of Jonah. His heart was not in what He was doing at all but he was led. His denial of that leading led to a pretty dramatic physical inspirement (the desire to live) but his heart was still not in it.

Lots to ponder SnuP. Where are you at anyway :) This thread is old but I just thought I'd respond to it.

My goal in life is to spend as much time with god in tongues or just however he leads until im spending 24/7 with him n he either kills me or takes me to heaven, yes the fruits of this is that he'll work miraculously through me and ill have abounding love for people but what i really want in life is to know God and to behold him with wide pure eyes.

And God will do all this because i am his son through Jesus Christ, and i will eat at my fathers table till i hunger no longer. By his spirit within me i will struggle against this flesh that so easily entangles me and by the blood that covers me i have already won long ago on calvary.

Before I came to Christ my life had no purpose or direction. But when He saved me my purpose became to give Him praise and to fellowship with Him. That is the whole reason Jesus came and died upon the cross, so that we could be reunited with the Father. He longs to fellowship with us just as He did in the Garden of Eden before man fell. It is the whole reason we were created.

God made me to walk in fellowship with Him. My purpose is to live for Him and to exalt the name of my Lord and Saviour , and be a witness for Him in this world we live in.

Col 1:16 For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible, rank after rank after rank of angels--everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him.

God has a purpose for each one of us, which is hidden in the love we discover when we encounter Him. But His purpose for our existance is to cancell our life, to instill Christ life and then send up out.

Many of you say that God's purpose for us is to know Him, but is not His end goal. His purpose for you as an individual is to cause all men to know Him.

Some of you are satified with your incounters with God, and yet will freely admit that you are still struggling with the flesh. This stuggle only proves that you do not yet know Him. Rather, you know His presence, His touch, but you have not fully recieved His love. If you had it would be evident even in your flesh.

If you think that exeriencing God is His purpose for you, then you are wrong. It is His pathway. His purpose is that every part of you should die and then be reborn through Christ. And then that you bring this transformation to everything around you. All things must be brought under His authority, that He may be glorified.

Ask yourself, can a good tree produce bad fruit?

The bible says no. It also says faith without works is dead. You should be dead, not your faith, and not His works.

It is time to take back our lives from the evil one. It is time to take back our families, our neighborhoods. It is time to take back our churches. It is time to take back our nation.

It it time to do the work of Christ and not just pursue the relationship He had.

This is a hard topic... I think relationship with Him is #1... and the rest just "happens" because of that relationship...
We're his children. I didn't have my girls so they could "do stuff" for me or have "tasks" when they grew up. That will happen, but it is not my intent... just relationship... KWIM?

Everything doesn't just happen. Too much of the church is just drinking in the presence but not releasing it. The Great Commision is not something that just happens, it is something that is pursued.

Babies are those that only want to recieve. Father work. God wants fathers, not childishness. It is time for the church to wake up, to come out from it is walls and demonstrate the Kingdom for a lost society.

you're taking it way out of context... i didn't say i'd sit back and do nothing... what i meant was the desires and ability to do more comes from that relationship (and if it doesn't it's worthless works anyway)

I don't believe that man has a purpose for living. What do you think? Is there a point to your life? Do you think that God agrees with you?

I actually asked God once why I was here. He told me I was to be one of his witnesses to the end of the age.

So, that's why I'm here at this point in history, and I suppose by default, that may be a purpose for many of you as well.
