I think that after reading this article, everyone should immediately go to Google search, and type in...Bush the Antichrist, lol.
Published - Jan 19 2006 06:31PM PST || AP
SAN FRANCISCO(AP) Google Inc. is rebuffing the Bush administration's demand for a peek at what millions of people have been looking up on the Internet's leading search engine _ a request that underscores the potential for online databases to become tools for government surveillance.
Mountain View-based Google has refused to comply with a White House subpoena first issued last summer, prompting U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales this week to ask a federal judge in San Jose for an order to hand over the requested records.
The government wants a list all requests entered into Google's search engine during an unspecified single week _ a breakdown that could conceivably span tens of millions of queries. In addition, it seeks 1 million randomly selected Web addresses from various Google databases.
In court papers that the San Jose Mercury News reported on after seeing them Wednesday, the Bush administration depicts the information as vital in its effort to restore online child protection laws that have been struck down by the U.S. Supreme Court. I don't believe that this is the REAL reason.
Yahoo Inc., which runs the Internet's second-most used search engine behind Google, confirmed Thursday that it had complied with a similar government subpoena.
Although the government says it isn't seeking any data that ties personal information to search requests, the subpoena still raises serious privacy concerns, experts said. Those worries have been magnified by recent revelations that the White House authorized eavesdropping on civilian communications after the Sept. 11 attacks without obtaining court approval.
"Search engines now play such an important part in our daily lives that many people probably contact Google more often than they do their own mother," said Thomas Burke, a San Francisco attorney who has handled several prominent cases involving privacy issues.
"Just as most people would be upset if the government wanted to know how much you called your mother and what you talked about, they should be upset about this, too."
The content of search request sometimes contain information about the person making the query.

I just read about this too.
The beginning of America's police state started awhile ago. The little vision of the future that Orwell wrote about in 1984 is coming true before our very eyes.
Civil liberties in the US are being rolled back further and further, and its not going to stop. When you have a fascist government in the White House, what else would you expect? America is being brought to its knees, and its happening rather quickly. When it finally crashes, it will serve as an example to the rest of the world what can happen when countries become too power hungry. That will be when a real world peace will be made throughout the world.
Well, atleast thats how I like to envision it in my head.:sorry:

As for Bush being the antiChrist (I know you were kidding) he's not smart enough to be that good. The man probably doesnt even know how to tie his own shoes. Thats why men like him get married.^_^

there are hundreds of millions that cannot stand the conditons and evil, vile, pernicious ways of the heads of state.

they are forever repeating lies and increasing liberalism

it' won't stop is the basis for increasing capitolism.

capitolism feeds off of increased freedoms.

now it's time to be together.

Honestly...I don't care. I have nothing to hide, I could care less if the pres himself listened to any conversations I had with my mother! Probably put him to sleep! :D And I don't care if they got any of my personal records of where I did searches at on ANY search engine....big deal.

The most interesting thing they would find is me searching government information on Agent Orange and other chemical used during the NAM war...and general information on bio and chemical weapons as research for the book I am working on which is totally fictional anyway. I actually learned more about chemical and bio weapons the other evening watching the history channel then I found on the net anyway...:D

I am a disabled stay at home mom...not terribly threatening...of course lets see, phone records...I called Hawii once to an internet friend...mailed a check to Africa a few times to pay for my website (no credit cards) and that is about the extend of my overseas interactions...

I did hear they keep a close eye on paltalk chat rooms...after 911 people were making all sorts of werid threats against the USA in those chat rooms....in fact I turned one guy in to that FBI site they have set up to report stuff like that. Have no idea if anything happened though. He had an accent...you know what I mean? (hate to sterotype people but we can't be stupid either), In those chat rooms you can hear people talking over mics, its not just a type chat room. Other then these few things my life is pretty boring...

why don;t you guys see the gove as a business, a business to keep you all motivated to go to work and pay taxes.

also a business to keeep people talking about them all the time , making them the center of attraction.

this is evil he wants to be the head and in charge and the more fuss you make about him the happier he is and he can thus control you with all eyes on him or them as in the gove

who supposedly hold the key to solving all the problems.

we you need to get over all this , it's time to ignore them and get busy with what God wants you to do.

first seek ye the kingdom of God and all else will be ok.

find wisdom and please her and you will get God's favour Proverbs 8: 34. 35.

and for you guys who say i don't use scripture , i could bury you with every post with it on every subject.

that's not me but the Holy Spirit that can ,

hear God , love and serve Him first.

peace , i'm out for the day

Hi Goltzy. I hear that!! My sister and I were talking about Big Brother last night. I watched a program that was based in New York city last week. They were doing interviews with people on the street, and were asking them how they felt about all of these cameras everywhere outside monitoring peoples every move. I couldn't believe all of the cameras in that city. The people didn't like it at all, and felt that their privacy was being invaded.
About 3 years ago, the major city that I live in installed cameras on every busy intersections light poles, which is a lot of them. If you go through a red light, a bright light flashes and almost blinds you. They then send you a ticket in the mail. They capture your license #. I bet who ever views these pictures see's a lot of "middle finger" salutes, lol.

Yes, I was joking....although Satan entering a man can really change his personality, lol.

None of us probably has anything really major to hide. It just shows where this nation is headed. We as Christians shouldn't be surprised by anything that our government is doing in these days and times. I am 55 years old, and I never thought that I would see these things happening in my lifetime. I am wondering how it's going to be in the next 10 years if Jesus tarries.

You will probably be the first person that they will want to talk to, lol. This isn't just about child protection laws. Bush even stated that they were wanting to hunt down terrorists groups by checking emails and cell phones. This is just another avenue for our government to hunt out terrorists.

I guess I am weird, I like the cameras because they catch people like those boys, beating up that homeless guy...I think the cameras will stop alot of crime on the streets. If a camera wants to watch me walking or driving down the street, I still think big deal..as long as I am not cimmiting a crime why would it bother me? If I was doing something embarassing in public to be on a camera then I would need to probably quit it! :D (no more picking your noses in the car people!)

Now what I would LIKE to stop is the dirty old man across the street looking in my windows with bincoloes...there is NO law against him doing that! I draw the line when folks watch me in my own home! That I do consider an invasion of privicty....if dirty look men can do this, you bet the government can too! Then you would see me hollering!!!

Apparently AOL and Yahoo have already turned over the lists and Google doesn't have a legal leg to stand on as it's a federal crime to do a search for websites with kiddy inappropriate content. I don't know what to think except that I don't Google anything I would be ashamed to tell you about.

But the legal issue is that it's illegal to google kiddie inappropriate content sites.
Yes, it's illegal Barb, but that is not the real reason they are doing this. I find it rather ironic that they want to check emails, cells phones for possible terrorist activity, and now they are wanting to check search engines for what they say is child endangerment. I say BULL DOO. I think that Bush is so hung up on Al Quida..however you spell it, and that is his main interest. Almost in every speech, he mentions terrorists or Al Quida. He won't be satisfied until he gets Osama Bin Laden to add to the feather in his Presidential cap. Saddam was captured during his administration, and he wants Osama real bad. I personally have never heard him make a speech regarding child endangerment, and I try to watch them all.

I can't say I disagree with them arresting people involved in child inappropriate contentography, but how long before its illegal to search for Illuminati, New World Order, Antichrist, or any alternative news sites?

People don't even realize what a slippery slope this is until we crash into the water.

I agree. Get those perverted &*# % @+ off of the internet. If that was their main issue doing this Google investigation, I would say more power to them. If they hadn't have aready said that they were going to tap cell phones and check emails, I wouldn't be so suspicious. It's just to close together on their comment about looking for terrorists. If they check my Google searches, they are going to be awfully bored, lol.

Hi

First off unfortunately looking at naked children IS NOT child inappropriate content....The child has to be portrayed in a sexual act ............as sick as the whole concept is.

So I go to goggle type in "Russian children's art"

It took me about five minutes to come up with "russian children's art" to find what seems a harmless search to get a child inappropriate content link.

The point I am trying to make is you can do what seems a harmless search on goggle or any search engine and come up with bad things.

It is the Internet that is the problem it is countries that allow and accept this stuff not the innocent person who does a search for children’s Art and gets a [inappropriate content link.

It has been suggested that what we should do is make ever country agree to a .SEX and enforce it with great vigour. This would allow the search engines to block inappropriate content and then none of us would have to suffer this stuff.
