Oh yes indeed, but it goes far beyond that! Look at what God said in Ezekiel 3:18,19: When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.
Has God not said in Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment? Has He not then told the wicked? Yes, indeed! We then are therefore responsible for telling them. But that is all. Just TELL them.
Look at the Promise in Isaiah 55:11: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it See! We are not responsible for the results. Every one we warn will not be saved but that is not our responsibility. If we give them Gods Word, that Word will accomplish the purpose He sent it to. They will have been warned. What they choose to do about it is not our concern. That burden is on them
But see how we are then off the hook? Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul. We are free from further responsibility.
So the purpose of the warning is to save his life. All we have to do is tell him. It is not required that we set ourselves up as a holier than thou judge. We are not to condemn him. We are not to take pleasure and condemn him to hell for his sins.
Have you ever seen a Doctor, telling a terminal patient, with great joy and delight, that he is going to die? Nor should we take any such attitude. For a person to spend even a single moment in such a place as hell, is a thought to horrible to even consider.
We should warn people with concern and compassion and love, but we MUST warn them. That is the only way we are free from blood guiltiness.
God simply wants us to help everyone we come into contact with to know Jesus as their personal Saviour. In Acts 20:26, Paul declares himself innocent of blood. Look: Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men. For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God. Paul is saying that no one can point the finger at him and say, You never told me about Jesus when you had the chance. Are we able to join Paul in this declaration?
Here is the bottom line: God has promised that if we do witness, even if they reject Christ, we have delivered our self from guilt and delivered our soul. Then when we stand before the judgement seat of Christ, we will be glad we fulfilled our responsibility, and we will be awarded the soul winners Crown of Rejoicing!
For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming? I Thessalonians 2:19.
