Gay/Straight Alliance in Idaho a "breeding ground for pedophiles"

I really don't understand the who "homosexuality=pedophilia". Gays are attracted to adults of the same sex (or at least people around the same age), why would they be pedophiles?

Pfft. My D was a member of the GSA in high school. First, how can anyone underage (as highschoolers tend to be) be a pedophile? Second, as wblastyn said, homosexuality has nothing to do with pedophila. Sound like Ohio has alot of idiots and morons trying to cause an unnecessary panic for political purposes.

A 16 or 17 year old that molests a 4 or 5 year old is most certainly a pedophile.

And this is something that would be done regularly at a meeting of the GSA? I guess they're very different than the GSA around here.

I should also point out that in our particular HS the straight students outnumberd the gay students in the GSA by about 10 to 1. Even the president was straight. It actually was more for the straight students to support tolerance than a homosexual club. I'm sure that could differ from school to school but there is nothing at all that can be linked to pedophilia, NOTHING AT ALL, and just that fact that it's being suggested by a 'republican group' highlights the need for a GSA.

Wow... I thought all schools had a GSA... silly me. At my school most of the guys in the club are gay but most of the girls are straight. The girls just chase the other girls around all day, they dont have time for silly clubs =P.

But seriously... why wont people get over gay people? They've been here forever and they'll probably be here as long as we have. How unAmerican of them to deny freedom of speech to its citizens... unpatriotic republicans are the worse...

Do people actually believe the pedophile correllation? Crazy crazy irrational world we live in...

These people are by far the most IGNORANT set of people I have read about in quite a long time. I was vice-president of the GSA @ my university for two years. We had a wide array of regular attending members from the heterosexual male to the bi-sexual transgendered female. Not once did the topic of harming children, rape or sexual abuse. We actually set out to help the community through food drives, bake sales and other social events. On talk nights we discussed our feelings, ideas and showed support of our fellow members. To sit and say it's an organization that harbors child molestors and advertises homosexual sex is just plan stupid.

The high school in my hometown didn't have a GSA. It's a pretty conservative Christian town, so just about everyone that is gay stays in the closet until they get as far away from that town as possible.

Unless this group is inviting adult gay men and lesbian to come and pick up the students at the meetings, or bringing the students to playgrounds to check out small children--both of which I highly doubt--the claims being made seem ridiculous.

Which is exceedingly rare. The brain chemistry of pedophiles usually cements itself at the late 20's-early 30's stage. At 16 or 17, a boy would probably just be dating girls that look much younger than they are. Serious pedophillic tendencies usually dont surface during the teen years

My school's GSA was actually a pretty laid back group. It was funny because the school was too scared to crack down on us because they didnt want the ACLU crawling down thier throats. We got away with alot of things most other groups couldnt Most people in my high school didnt care about gays one way or the other so our GSA didnt really have a big job to do, the hard part was educating PARENTS

As someone who was a juvenile probation officer I can say your statement is not entirely true. I had in seven years over ten diagnosted pedophiles. They were all males 14 to 16 who coersed boys under 6 into sex. They were all sent to sexually offender facilities in the hopes they could be rewired to not find children attractive. Most end up offending as adults.

I didnt say it was impossible, I said it was rare.

Seems what read/wrote was misinterpreted. I won't argue that a teenager can molest a toddler...I was responding to the OP and assumed it ment a GSA would be a breeding ground for adults to molest the highschoolers. I apoligize for any confusion.

Also, for the person who asked, 'D' stands for daughter (S=son, D=husband, etc.). It's a standard abbreviation for those who post on alot of online forums .
