Okay, another sign that the Apocalypse is near:

Bleeping Censorship

ABC edited the word "Jesus" out of replays of an episode of The View recently so viewers wouldn't be offended, reports The Associated Press.
On the May 23 edition of the show, Meredith Vieira noted that the daily weigh-ins of her dieting co-host, Joy Behar, had ended. "Yes, and thank you, thank you, Jesus, is all I have to say," Behar replied
Her words were aired live in much of the country, but when ABC broadcast a taped version of the show on the West Coast, "Jesus" was edited out.
An ABC spokeswoman said the network does not allow Jesus' name to be used in an exclamation. "Under the circumstances, we were concerned it would be offensive to our audience," she said.
The decision drew the ire not only of conservative critics, but also of the hosts of the show themselves. "It was stupid to beep that," co-host Star Jones said. "They let us say all kinds of things on TV, but they beep Jesus? That makes no sense."

She took Jesus' name in vain. Given that context they were correct to bleep it out. As long as they stay consistent (bleeping out all curse words... this includes f-bombs, a derivative of the word posterior, the word for a fatherless child, various forms of the word poopie, a word for female dogs, etc etc) than I see no problem with it.

I don't see how she took Jesus' name in vain. She said,

"Yes, and thank you, thank you, Jesus, is all I have to say," Behar replied.

I don't see how that is taking His name in vain. Maybe I'm missing something here but to me it looks like she is thanking Him for her weight loss....

That's the way I saw it as well.

KC,

You gotta show me how to get those neat avatars you keep a changin'!

Oh no...I show you how to do it and then everyone is doing it! :p

I'll PM you.

The Nick show is "Nick News" a "Dateline, 20/20" program for kids hosted by Linda Elerby.

Here is the synopsis:
Nickelodeon, the popular children's network, will air a special program on June 18 at 9:00 p.m. (ET) promoting the homosexual message to children. The program, Nick News Special Edition: My Family Is Different, will be hosted by homosexual advocate Linda Ellerbee.

Nickelodeon worked behind the scenes with the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) and the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network (GLSEN) to produce this program. These groups are actively promoting the normalization of homosexuality. GLSEN has specifically targeted children.

"This is a show about families, diversity, respect and tolerance," Ellerbee said. While Ellerbee and Nickelodeon claim that the program will be balanced, it will promote acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle and homosexual "families."

While homosexuals comprise less than 3% of the population, and an infinitesimally small number of "families," the program is designed to raise questions in the minds of children and thus lead them into thinking that a homosexual "marriage" is the equivalent of traditional marriage between a man and woman. The number of children in a "homosexual family" home is so small that promotion of this lifestyle is the only reason Nickelodeon would choose to do a special.

Oh come on, you don't really believe that do you?

Did Jesus send her the "Divine Weight Loss Plan Booklet" or something?

If you're a Jew, you don't say the word "God", you don't even write the word "God". Jesus' name should be used reverently. I've been following this whole hub-bub and it wasn't reverent.

At first I didn't see where what she said was offensive or how Jesus' name was taken in vain - but after reflecting on it I think I see what you (nyj and KC are referring to). I know that I was offended when watching the last Survivor episode and the one dude thanked Jesus for his winning a car but otherwise spewed profanities from his mouth - making his testimony a total wash and himself look like a real hypocrite.

I know you guys aren't saying we can't say "thank you Jesus" when we want to praise the Lord - but you might want to explain to others (by way of examples - like I listed above) how folks can take the name of Jesus in vain without realizing it. :)

Well, I guess I missed your point then. Maybe she wasn't being serious when she gave thanks for her weight loss. But, if she was serious, then I see no problem with that. No, obviously He didn't send her a "Divine Weight Loss Plan Booklet." But even when we accomplish the most, tiny, simpliest thing, we should give thanks to God. We should give thanks to God in everything we do. If Joy Behar was doing that, then good for her.

I believe that the point was that anytime you try to take the name of God and connect it something that isn't Godly, you are taking the name of the Lord in vain. If you exclaim His name when someone scares you, you have taken his name in vain. When you do things like that you take His name off of the pedastal where it belongs and you bring it down to an earthly level. Taking the Lord's name in vain does not mean just saying it with a curse word immediately afterward - it means saying anything that would make His name seem less holy than it should be.

NOT BUYING! Give me biblical references. How is any of part of our life even close to being Godly? But yes I do connect God to every aspect of my life!! Jesus does not just hang out at Church!

Thank you Jesus for given me the wisdom to know that I can call on you and speak to you and praise you at any moment of my daily walk. What a Friend I found in Jesus!!

I don't know about the "Divine Weight Loss Plan" Booklet, but I do know that in Christian bookstores you CAN find books on weight control and weight management that claim a Scriptural foundation. "Lose Weight through Prayer" or some such thing...

Peace be with you,
