Dear Rev. Robertson,
I (
http://www.christianforums.com/showthread.php?p=21158017&postcount=7) was very distressed to see that you have run off at the mouth once again and that you have relapsed into this terrible disease of speaking first and thinking only afterward (if at all).
Let's get one thing clear. As an orthodox Jew living in Israel & a registered Republican (I'm still a US citizen too), I value your support, and that of the evangelical Protestant community, for Israel very much. So please understand where I'm coming from.
PM Sharon's stroke is a punishment from God for implementing the Disengagement Plan? You know this? The Almighty has allowed you to glance at his account books (so to speak)?
That PM Sharon's stroke was the will of God is something that no person ought to question (What happens in this world that is not the will of God?), but why God willed that this should happen is something that is simply beyond human ken. You don't have a clue (nor can you), none of us do. You of all people should know that there are certain things that are simply beyond our human ability to grasp & that we'll never be able to figure out. Me? I look at Deuteronomy 29:28
"The secret things belong unto the Lord our God..."
,
Psalm 131:1-2
Lord, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty; neither do I exercise myself in things too great, or in things too wonderful for me. Surely I have stilled and quieted my soul; like a weaned child with his mother; my soul is with me like a weaned child."
,
Isaiah 55:9
For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts."
,
and Job 38:2-4
Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge? Gird up now your loins like a man; for I will demand of you, and declare you unto Me. Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if you have the understanding!
whenever I feel myself getting too big for my spiritual britches. How wonderful it must be for you to live in a world in which the ways of such as God are not inscrutable but are plain and laid open to such as you to the extent that you know what He does and why. A rabbi in our old neighborhood in Jerusalem (a very soft-spoken, modest & unassuming man; maybe you could learn something from this) calls people such as yourself "God's pockets" because God is in your pocket.
Also, it is interesting that
you pontificate on what
my Prime Minister should do in
my country from safe & faraway Virginia. I pay taxes here. I vote here. In 10 years my wife & I will have to drive our son to an IDF induction center. Ariel Sharon has spent his entire life as a soldier & warrior defending, with his blood & his life, a place you only know from books or that you may have visited on occasion. How dare you pronounce on his life like you have? Who are you to judge him? Shame on you!
Sincerely yours,
