There is absolutely no harmful effects from pot, but like all habits too much can cause one to be hyper and follow the idea's gained while smoking dope.
I am 57 years old and smoke dope now and then, and have a great deal of good to say about it.
During World War 2 the US navy ran adds promoting hemp, all ships were tied up with hemp rope and farmers grew the weed for the war effort, even Henry Ford was looking at hemp for his car plant, the seed is the second highest protein and makes a great oil.
The fibers are up to 24 inches long as opposed to cottons 1 inch and as a fiber lasts ten times as long as cotton, the Levi company made work cloths for miners and they lasted years. But as they would not wear out they switched to cotton as money is the name of the game.
After the war Dupont developed a cracking process and this was used for nylon and the oil industry got in behind it, then money talked and soon the farmers were told by the government to stop growing it as the Oil companies took up the slack and new products were developed to compete with hemp products.
In time laws were passed and a campaign was developed by Hollywood with name actors portraying sexual evils inspired by hemp and that was the end of it as a product, all based on lies spawned by the opposing money industries and that is Oil companies.
The potential for hemp as a medicine is said to be capable of eliminating 60% of all pharmaceuticals out of the hands of Dupont and its sisters, as Hemp can not be patented.
Now as you are 16, get on with being a 16 year old, stop worrying about your mother smoking dope, she is a big girl, and if you have to work to help out, good for you, but do it at a relaxed pace, worry will not make things better, and every day that slips by you get older and wiser, and sound wise for your age now.
Do some research and you will find the good side of hemp and is not a big worry, you are just sucked in by the government like most of us, and remember that the governments are all corrupt, driven by money and money driven governments are purchased by lobbyists in Washington, and the US is the most corrupt evil that is worse than any Babylonian beast of ancient times, believe not one word they say.
Remember this, if you were a black lad, your chances in America is next to nil, and jail an almost certainty.
Set aside some time each day just for you, switch off and forget the troubles as time will sort things out.
As you have not said what your brother is dying from, I can not assist you there, but your mother needs a release and if she smoke dope, so what, let her do it as she is suffering enough, and a car is a car, wheels are wheels and as for a girlfriend, that's the last thing you need, believe me I have lived life and wish I had remained a virgin until I was 40. At your age a girl friends is like an anchor emotionally and the next thing you will be into is sex and then a slip up and bingo a child on the way.
