Churches have their doctrines and they don't care to discuss any further. Yes the NT mentions instruments. I don't have a problem with it (I am a Worship Leader and Guitar player) But others seem to.

Oh I understand completley.
Personally, I think that it is more a preference than a doctrine. God is not offended by either worship with or worship without instruments. Afterall, worship is an attitude of our heart. And that is what God is interested in Our Hearts.

Pretty much, everything that can be said on this subject, has been said. Now, it is time for Inspector Vol to put some serious prayer and fasting into the subject to come up with his own conclusion. I still say that it is more a matter of heart between an individual and God. I seriously doubt God really cares if you use music in worship or not. It is what is in the heart that counts.

Personally I try to live( lots of improvement needed by the way) and worship by only what can be verified through the NT. Having been raised COC my whole life it is all I have ever known and I have heard some really good sermons on this subject. I guess for me/us the question is are we instructed to use instruments in the worship service? From what I have heard and read the OT says to use them but we don't worship as they did in the OT times. We were instructed in the NT a different way to worship with no mention of instruments but only singing. I saw a reference to a verse in Revelations about elders holding harps alsothat I think savingrc listed. Maybe this could be used for verification of instruments, but to me(as of now, I will consult my precher about this particular verse though) it seems that these elders were located in heaven and not here on earth, also there was no instruction in this particular verse to use them in our worship service.
I will not pass judgement on anyone that does use instruments because Judgement belongs to the Lord alone, not me. Maybe is isn't a big deal anyway, but what if it is? I/we just feel( this is backed up by scripture) that you should only worship in a way that we were instructed to and any addition to that is adding man's doctrine to the Lord's and he doesn't like that for sure. Be sure you don't confuse the COC with others like the ICOC or the UCOC which are different. As we don't have a central council like everyone else I will list a couple of sites were if you like, you may review our doctrine, which will not be listed as a creed(we don't have one) but as verified by scripture. If you have any questions I will be glad to try and answer the best I can.

I will not pass judgement on anyone that does use instruments because Judgement belongs to the Lord alone, not me. Maybe is isn't a big deal anyway, but what if it is? I see wheree you are coming from. I guess I have used a similar arguement to my pastor and elders on subjects of dispute I have had with them over certain issues. It is a fine line we are both walking though. If we try to make too fine of a point out of the letter of the law, we run the danger of being like the pharasee. It is far more important to God that we follow the spirit of the law.
Accapella music is nice, I bet it is very beautiful to hear all those voices singing praise. Some times I do think some churches could do with a little less instruments but then again, if they are truely worshiping God, who am I to say.
