If you do an in depth study on these Names you will be more than a little amazed at what you learn.

Elohim, for example is a Plural Name and is used thousands of times in the Old Testament. It refers to the awesome power, strength and Might of Almighty God.

Elohim is the Name used in Genesis 1:1: In the beginning God (Elohim) created the heaven and the earth.

It is the Name used in Psalm 19:1: "The heavens declare the glory of God (Elohim); and the firmament sheweth his handywork."

It is also the Name used in Ecclesiastes 12:1: "Remember now thy Creator (Elohim) in the days of thy youth..."

Therefore, the translation should more correctly read: Remember thy CREATORS.

There are obviously a few thousand passages I have left out. Do a study and you will be shocked at what you did NOT learn in Sunday School.

Elyon is also another interesting Name for God. It means: "The strongest strong One." It is interesting to note it is used by Melchizedek, King of Salem, in Genesis 14:17-20, and also by lucifer in Isaiah 14:12-14: Here it is Elyon (the strongest strong One) that lucifer said he would be like.

I do not know how many times this Name is used, but these two examples are significant because of who used it.
