I got an idea.... how about you insensitve self righteous Brits get the h*ll off this thread and take your insults with you.

I apologize, I misunderstood that statement. I agree they should stay on topic, and my post was not directed only at you, I just hate to see this spiral down into a flame war using harsh words with one another, regardless of our differences in beliefs about the issue, we need to treat one another with respect, and that is for everyone, myself included.

I referred to them as "Brits" because thats who the two atagonists were. I wasn't implying that they didn't have a right to post here, only that they needed to stop flaming and stay on topic.

The original intent of this thread was not meant to discuss the politics of the day or who was right or wrong. As for my remarks..... I don't like someone telling me my friend and coworker was murdered because they "deserved it." Let me assure you, my words here are extremely nice compared to what I'd really like to say and do to that poster.

<<<<EDIT>>>> You are correct... in my anger over his remarks, I posted a few inappropriate things. I've gone back and edited those posts.

By the way, I think it was made pretty darn clear when he said "deserved it."

While your comments may be considered "nice" compared to what you'd like to say, that doesn't make them appropriate for a Christian forum, nor is it appropriate for people to tell you your friend deserved it (although I doubt that's what they intended). That is why I simply suggested we get back on topic, so let's get to it. I haven't shared my story yet, so I will go ahead and do it.

I work overnights and was driving home from work on the morning of 9/11. I heard the dj on the radio say a small plane had hit the world trade center (this is what many people heard at first). Then, the radio dj's saw the 2nd plane hit while they were watching the tv, and the man dj yelled out. It was frightening, because I had never heard a dj freak out like that, and I knew something was seriously wrong. I have a cousin who lives in NYC, so I called my grandma to see if she could get ahold of him to make sure he was alright. He was ok, but watched the wtc fall from his apartment balcony. I went home and turned on the tv, it was very surreal, I was making pancakes for my roommate and I, while all of these people were dying right in front of me. It was an awful feeling, I felt totally helpless, I mean, here I am making pancakes while people are dying  I was also terrified because my dad was in chicago, and they were worrying about big cities/skyscrapers. He was ok, but had to rent a car to get home because the airports were closed. I didn't sleep well for a long time after that, and I cried a lot, and I became a news junkie, like 24/7, but I have gotten a little better.

:timeout: Okay everyone, let's get this thread back on the topic of the title. :topic:This thread is to remember 911 and where you were and what you were doing, not to debate on whose fault it was or if it was justified or whatever. Let's all be nce. :)

Carry on....

And it must be nice sitting safe and sound behind your puter there, lil' boy. :)

Now... how did I end up a "patriotic naive fool?" Please, oh brave one who sits boldly behind his computer, tell me what I said to earn such a non-intelligently candy wrapped, no thought out remark like that? Must be easy to throw out a 2-cent remarks like that, little man, but its funny.... I just don't recall making any remark about my patriotism..... but then a troll like you just makes stuff up so you can start a flame war.

Oh, and next time don't hide your remark to me at the bottom of your post... make it loud and clear :)

Now get a life and stop posting off topic here.

And it must be nice sitting safe and sound behind your puter there, lil' boy.

You are a very immature individual, which is incredible considering you called me: - "lil' boy". The Irony.

how did I end up a "patriotic naive fool?"

A good question, I would imagine it was a result of patriotic parents and the patriotic brainwashing received in US schooling, and likely enough watching too many Hollywood movies.

Please, oh brave one who sits boldly behind his computer,

Coming from someone who has been swearing at me from the other side of the world "boldly behind his computer" that is shockingly hypocritical.

tell me what I said to earn such a non-intelligently candy wrapped, no thought out remark like that?

Its a little thing we normal people call logic, though being a naive fool I can see that you would be at a disadvantage on that one. However I will explain so that in the future you may be that little bit more enlightened.

1. Your patriotic, and obviously so, because the moment you saw an insult to the USA you jumped down my neck with rather boring flame.

2. Your naive because you obviously cant believe that the USA may be at least partially responsible for attacks made upon it.

3. Your a fool because of the above points and because you resorted to flaming before you made any coherent argument.

Must be easy to throw out a 2-cent remarks like that, little man

Just as easy as the incoherent mix of flame and patriotism you flung at me earlier, but I see you have edited that out, stupid man.

but its funny

No your posts are funny, in a very sad way, rather like watching a cringe comedy like the office, people don’t laugh with you they laugh at you.

I just don't recall making any remark about my patriotism

See point 1 from above.

but then a troll like you just makes stuff up so you can start a flame war.

A troll ahh? That’s great, however note that I didn't come into this thread flaming anyone... unlike you.

and next time don't hide your remark to me at the bottom of your post... make it loud and clear

Your lucky I even deigned to respond to you.

make it loud and clear

When I feel the need to take advice in the art of flaming I will seek it from my betters.

how about you insensitve self righteous Brits please leave this thread and take your insults with you

and here you are, acting like an ignonimious self righteous Brit who still can't get over the fact their long lost colony could whip the living beejeezus out of them. The Edited version!

hypocrisy, an art jameseb has mastered.

the worst day in American history.

Now you've just been even more stupid than even I could give you credit for, try the outbreak of the civil war.

I referred to them as "Brits" because thats who the two atagonists were.

Really, I didn't notice either of us feeling the need to resort to petty flame, until after you decided to open your foul mouth.

I don't like someone telling me my friend and coworker was murdered because they "deserved it."

You don’t even seem to be able to read never mind respond, take a look back at what I posted and find where I said that any of the victims actually deserved it.

Now I am not going to continue this battle of wits with you, as you have made it quite clear you are unarmed... like most of America's victims.

Goodbye, and try and remember to chew your food.

Where was you at when this happen on 9/11?

Thanks, Robert.
I was sitting on the tarmac in a 777 at Heathrow Airport waiting to takeoff and fly into Boston. We were stuck inside the airplane for four hours while everything was going on, with little or no contact with the outside world, the only information that we were getting came from the pilot. We were one of the last flights allowed to leave the airplane because the airport was too crowded for us all to get off the plane.

To quote you, "America's had it coming..." While that's not even proper grammar (and its "planes," not plains), its quite a clear statement. You suggested those 3,000 innocent people had it coming to them, including my own friend and coworker. She never hurt a soul, and was a very friendly, outgoing person who would do anything for another. She had not an ounce of malice or hate in her heart, and you say she "had it coming" to her? Her name was SARA LOW... and don't you ever forget that name.

Yes, I have been quite vitriol in my posts to you up to this point, but with your careless remark about the death of my friend, and thousands of others, what did you expect...........and if you'd ever like to meet in person to have a "discussion" on this subject, I'd be more than happy to arrange a meeting. I work for the airlines so I can easily make a little trip over to England where I can meet you. After implying my friend "had it coming," I'm really excited about the prospect of meeting you.

AGAIN, this is off topic... and you KNOW that. A mod made that quite clear to you (and I even) just a couple posts above you........ if you want to make another thread to discuss this, fine.... but stop posting tripe to this thread.

I will delete this post after you've read it (please, PM me...) cause I don't want to carry on with this here... this is my last post on the subject here.

When I heard about 9/11 I was asleep in bed. You see, 9/11 occurred about 10 or 11pm on the 11th with the time difference between the US and Oz here, so I slept through the first 8 hours of the news coverage. My dad woke me up at 7pm and said "Someone's attacked the Yanks" (sorry to offend any America who doesn't identify with the word, but my dad is an ocker bloke), and I thought it was an attack on a US embassy in Africa or Asia, so continued sleeping. Ten minutes later my dad tried to wake me up again. He said "Someone's attacked the Yanks. In New York". Needless to say I was running upstairs to the TV in moments, just in time to see that horrible footage of the second plane hitting the tower, and then falling down. Oh my goodness. They showed reactions of people on the street, and that says it all during a huge event like that I think.

I'm embarrassed about the fact the first thing I thought was how could a terrorist pull this off, and who is going to pay for it?

Then they mentioned the casulties, the numbers were obviously unsure at the time. Then I do what I do whenever anyone (civilian or military) dies in a major event that I heard about whether it's in Iran, China or the US, who were they? Did they have someone who loved them, or did they die feeling horribly alone? Did they die after having an argument with someone? What did they have for breakfast? Were they happy? Just the little yet important stuff.

I was in the UK playing a computer game that I had been addicted to for way too long...
There was a huge frenzy of media coverage of the 9/11 tragedy here in the UK and for a while it seemed as if it would never end.
I think it was reported with great sensitivity and care, and rightfully so.
My initial reaction was shock at the sheer scale of the event. It seemed like armageddon. However, I'll say this. There seemed to be quite an eerie orchestration to the entire episode which I view with suspicion.

Thanks, Robert.

I was out of the country in the Bahamas. Ruined my whole trip. Me and my wife were on a cruise ship and getting ready to exit the ship for a tour of Nassua and the hotel "Atlantis". While I was standing in line she came to me and said "the WTC are on fire" We went into the lounge and its weird because alot of people were talking about the stock market. I was just thinking of our freinds who were dying. By the time we got off the ship and into the lounge of the port the towers were gone. We were just speachless. Later I hear the word God from those who commited this horrible crime and ever since I really think religion is a disease. Sorry, I cut it short, but I don't like typing alot in this forum.

I was on the computer, I had been up all night, and was watching the morning news on CBS. At first no one seemed to know what was happening a man on the street said that a small aircraft had hit the tower. I went in and woke up my husband, and we watched together, thinking what a mess! No one showed the people jumping at the time, and it was thought to be contained to the few floors at the top of the building.
Then we watched in horror as the second plane hit! And it didn't dawn on me at the time that it was on purpose. I foolishly thought that the pilot had been watching the fire, and accidentally hit the second building! How could anyone believe such evil that people could do this on purpose, then it began to dawn on me we were under attack.
Then the report came in that the pentagon had been hit, and a plane was down in PA. The news came in that there were possibly as many as 10 more planes that were not accounted for. The full horror was slow to register.
At first I thought that the buildings would be under repair for years, then the first tower collapsed, and I watched with even more horror than I had ever known. I couldn't hold back the tears. Then the second building collapsed!
All flights into the metropolitan airport came to a halt we live in the flight pattern of an international airport.
How did this happen? Who would do such a thing? How could people do this to other people, who only intended on going to work to make a living for their family?

I went to bed just before the first plane hit (around 11ish in Sydney) and my brother woke me up at 6:30 the following morning telling me to come to the TV. I thought it was an early morning movie as I saw a building on fire, but when they showed the second plane hit I realised that this was real. For the next few days every free to air channel in Australia was taking feeds from NBC, ABC, CBS, etc. and I still have a copy of one of Sydney's main newspapers as a memory of the day.

" My drive into work that night was on a nearly empty highway and it was eerie going outside and not seeing any airplanes overhead. Normally the night sky is full of planes where I work. But the night of the 11th was silent."

i know what you mean. i live right by a airport. it was very weird not hearing planes every 5 minutes.

Wow I bet that was scary, being away from home when it happened then you had to flay on a plane to get back.
