not trying to be a know-it-all here :)

i jsut want to say that i'm ALMOST done with it now! and i have to say, alot of the problems i had in submitting to the authority seem to be melting away. there were certain things i really had issues with but the more i read and see it explained the more it makes sense!! i don't know if this is a requirement in the RCIA classes but i think it should be; to have to read the entire CCC before confirmation. i personally think it would help us to truely understand what and why the Church teaches what it does.

k, that's just my thought of the day! :) take it for whatever it's worth;)

okay on some prompting, i've decided to ask others opinions on this.

would anyone be interested in doing a book review kind of thing on teh CCC? like take it apart bit by bit and post our views on it? i mean, i know it would take awhile but believe me my copy is all yellow from the highlighting and i'm sure i could learn even more form some of you seasoned Catholics!! anyone game on this?

LOL! Mine is all yellow from highlighting, too, as are my Bibles. :)

I think this is a great idea and I would participate. Like you said, it would take a while .... but so what? Worst thing that could happen is we get a thread to rival the Pub, plus we all get to learn the CCC better. Seems like a "Win-Win" proposition to me! ;)

:D i learned the hard way that my highlighter is just too "heavy" for my Bible

well, i'll wait for others to reply here to see if more people would like to get involved before i figure out how to start this. my thinking on this is i've seen comments made before about how even some Catholics don't even seem to understand their own faith. disecting the CCC seems to be an excellent way to help not only fellow Catholics but any lurkers as well to understand why we believe what we believe!

Yeah, some of my Bibles are, too ... the pages are too thin for normal highlighters, so it bleeds through. So I use a different kind of highlighter for those.

Anyhow, I'm going to be offline for a while, maybe a couple of days. I'll check back in here when I get back to see if this gets put together. I hope it does ...

Look in the very back of the CCC, there is a section that lists all the bible verus that are cited and tells you where. There is enough of them that one could easly turn it into a bible study. There is also another index that list all other citations by author . So say you want to see what was used from St. Augstain you can look him up.

Aaron, I usually like all your ideas. But I have another: Take the CCC in the order in which it is written. It has a coherence, a cohesiveness, and a logical structure. It builds the later expositions onthe firm foundations of the logical fundamentals. If we go by SS citations, we'll be all over the place. And when we learn something that way, we'll be less likely to be able to relate it to other teachings. My $OO.O2.

I agree. I think it's best to go in the order it's written. When do we start?:)

This could be huge, I wonder if we should create another subforum on OBOB for it - like a Catechism study forum?
What do you think?
A subforum is definitely better than a single thread.

Single threads are very hard to search through and read.
