Uh...I think not.

If any of the Catholics or Protestants on the board want to argue theological points and the like with each other, there are 2 other forums they can do it in. They can do it in The Workshop, where other Christians would respond to their posts, or in The Round Tables, where Christians and probably some atheists and others who do not necessarily believe in God or Jesus Christ will respond to their posts.

I don't think any of the Catholics on this board worry about doing their thing in peace. They worry about people who specifically come to this particular forum to rip their beliefs apart. And that will not be tolerated.

I also think there are enough boards out there that have forums where topics are brought up which turn into Protestants vs. Catholics, regardless of whether they have a forum for that specific purpose or not.

So, if your request was a joke, you got my reasons why I don't think we need one at The King's Tavern, even though you didn't need it.

If your request was serious, you got my position on the issue, and I'm sure that there are other members of the staff who share my views.

With all that said, I'll be quiet now. :)

Blalron, might I suggest the Rapture Ready board? You'd like it over there. It's populated by cueballs who hate the Catholic Church with a seething abhorrence, and they perpetually keep introducing new topics whereby they can slam the Papists and then high-five and cheer each other on. It's sort of like tag-team wrestling.

......in more ways than one, I might add.

Give it a try.

Blessings,

Give me a link to that rapture board.

It's been my experience that most people who are Catholic are just that way because their parents were Catholic, and a lot of them turn away from the faith later on. And Don't go giving me stories about people who were protestant that switched to prove me wrong, because I know that's what your going to do.

Yes, Blaron, why should we give you stories about Protestants who turned Catholic? I mean, its only the TRUTH, and there are only at least TWO people who post here that went through this process (me and ZooMom). But why would you want to confuse yourself by listening to the facts?

I could post a good story by a person who was an ordained Catholic priest for over 20 years, who started reading the Bible, and decided to leave the Church to follow Christ.

Anyone who can be a priest for 20 years and not read the Bible is not being a very good priest.

Let me guess, Charles Chinquay?

It's good. If you want to read it.

Lest you get the wrong idea about me, I say all of this in love.

If your noxious anti-Catholicism and bigotry is "love" I would hate to see your other side.

It could be Chiniquy.

Or it could also be Bart Brewer, who was once a Carmelite priest; but he didn't leave because he started reading the Bible---he left because he developed an uncontrollable case of the hots for a high school girl, which got him into deep trouble with his superiors. Bart just couldn't seem to keep his passions under control when it came to celibacy, so he departed the priesthood and went into Fundamentalist preaching.

Or it might be Mark Pena, or Tony Pezzotta, or L.H. Lehmann, or any one of a number of disaffected former priests with various moral or psychological problems.

If it's by Alberto Rivera, however, you can rest easy, since Rivera is not and never was a Catholic priest.....that's just a clever little story that he and Jack Chick dreamed up one day to sell more comic books. It's amazing that Rivera's alleged experiences are nearly exact parallels to the fables written by Maria Monk.

Or, maybe it's not so amazing...... ;)

Blessings,

Any disagreement with the Catholic Church is "bigotry" in your opinion. You seem to think I hate Catholics. I don't. Some of my very best friends, who I've known since kindergarten, have been reared in large Catholic families.

I recognize the fact that the Catholic Church was the first church, and they are the reason that Christianity is as widespread as it is today. And I appreciate that. But I think that they have strayed from their original doctrines over the past millenia or so.

I've spent some time reading the writings of the early church fathers. They rellied very heavily on the scriptures to support their points of view. Did you know that they quoted it so much that the entire New Testament (minus 11 verses) could be reconstructed from the early church fathers (2nd and 3rd century) writings? What they don't do is appeal to unwritten oral traditions for doctrines. You can go check it out for yourself if you don't believe me.

There's nothing in their writings about Purgatory, or the Immaculate Conception, or praying to Mary. My opinion (which I know doesn't matter to you guys) is that those things would have been important enough to write about if they were true. Don't you think?

If I didn't love you guys, I wouldn't risk facing your scornful comments to tell you what I think to be the truth. To do so out of hate would go against what Jesus commanded:

John 15:12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

If we've been uncharitable to you - I apologize. We're under a constant state of scrutiny by folks who think they have the cornerstone on knowledge in regards to the Catholic Church. So we're a little gun shy when it comes to questions.

If you are sincere in your quest to discuss the Catholic faith, then by all means start a thread. We can discuss things rationally and we may even disagree. If it turns into a fire-fight we'll have to shut things down.

What I wish above all else is to follow Christ. If I discover that I am wrong and His way is supposed to be through the Catholic Church, then I will convert.

Well, we all follow Christ here on our forum so we're starting out on the same page. ;)

Conversion is an option, although we may ask that you shave your head.

No, but anyone who relies on people like Chinquay, Boettner, Chick, LaHaye, Jenkins, Brewer, Swaggart or any of the other disreputable anti-Catholics that pollute the Fundamentalist world is a bigot.

You seem to think I hate Catholics.

Only because you come in here, with your worthless opinions, and try to attack our faith and draw us into whatever Fundamentalist cult you currently inhabit. People like you are a dime a dozen, and woefully overpriced.
