I haven't tested G-d as much as I've allowed myself to be open to His guidance.

I don't deny all the miracles performed by Jesus. They may or may not have happened. There's records of many Jews performing miracles. He's one of a number to me.

G-d can perform miracles through anyone He wishes.

Am I torah-observant? No. I'm not a Jew. Am I studying and learning more about Judaism? Yes.

I would if the Temple were standing and I lived close enough to it. That would be awesome!!!

chokmah, were you Christian or just studied the Bible?

I was a "born again" Christian with the whole arsenal: tongues, apologetics, and the desire for ministry. I tithed my 10% and was involved in praise band. I had the whole thing "going on".

But I did read the bible. I've read it through completely in the NIV, NASB, KJV, NKJV, Amplified, and Living. This was all done as a Christian.

Is this one of those "true" Christian questions?

I would just like to express my exprience of walk with the Lord.

It is my conviction that if we are not wholeheartedly commited to Him He will never reveal Himself to us.

It may sound judgemental but this is my honest opinion.

I don't understand many things that He teaches but I am so grateful that He gave me child-like faith so I can trust Him no matter what.

I believe that He is so enormous that no human can understand Him fully.

If we postpone being Christians until we understand God, then that day will never come.

The revelation of G-d that I have now dwarfs my understanding of Him before. The detritus of the trinity, the Christian understanding of the Jewish Messiah, and a bunch of other junk has been removed. I "see" clearer than I have ever seen before.

All I know is that longer I walk with Him deeper I fall in love with Him. I will never ever let Him go!!!!
Thank you Jesus!!!!

By the way, since this is Ten commandments thread, I have a question about "do not kill" commandment.

I am wondering why so many Christians join the military.
Because the command is actually better rendered "thou shall not murder"; murder as it is used in Mosaic Law does not include certain acts of self-defense, capital punishment, military action, et cetera.

I thought about it for a very long time.

I don't believe Jesus approves of Christians joining the military. Military is for the world and not for the Christians.

Jesus favored and clearly loved the Centurian, who obviously stayed active with the new cult, as Peter attests. Jesus never asked the Centurian to leave the legion. God worked giving the Jews their promised land through warfare.

I think no Christian nation or ruler can make a moral argument in favor of agression, but see no reason to belive that Jesus meant for us to simply be slaughtered when attacked.

Must I turn the other cheek, yes. Must I allow a man to kill another person, to stand by and allow the innocent to be opressed if I can do somthing about it? If I love my neighbor I must be willing to lay down my life for him, for we are taught that this is the greatest act of love of all. I for one wil honor the Centurian, just as Jesus did, I will honor the love he shows with the offer of his life.

I am sad that our Christian President makes wars of choice, but that does not in anyway limit the deep gratitude I feel to our soldiers, and the love they show for me without ever having met me.

So by putting the ten commandments in view of non-christians and political leaders, are we doing a bad thing? I mean, saying it's wrong to lie, steal, commit adultry, and kill might offend them right?

You're completely missing the point. You'd be completely offended as a Christian if the holy commands of Allah were posted on the doors to the Supreme Court.

It's not the ten commandments, it's America. Sep of Church and State and all that good stuff. It's for your own good remember? REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENED IN ENGLAND ALL THOSE YEARS AGO?! Thats why we left!

I think he'd reply with:

"But America is a Christian Nation!"^_^

Yet one of the fastest growing religions here is Islam. It's better the gov't stay secular, I could only imagine what Islamic fundamentalists could push for in the U.S.

Well, if things continue at the rate of Islam's growth now, we could become an Islamic majority or significant minority (over 20%). Now, I dunno about you, but I'd rather the US remain secular. I hope most Christians would agree it's best that way. See when there is a democratic theocracy, and the majority becomes Islam, well, you get the picture.

Who knows? In 35 years I may even be fighting on the same side as Christians to keep U.S. from rule under Islam. All is possible.

See no reason to believe Jesus meant for us to simply be slaughetered? He teaches us first of all by His life's example, then by the example of most of the first 12 disciples, historically said to be given over to violent deaths at the hands of others, and Peter knew before hand he would be killed in this way. many missionaries even today risk their lives (and even give them) in service and love of Jesus Christ (Jim Elliot is one relatively recent example)

Martyrdom is the highest honor for the saints.

I understand your position, but I disagree. Jesus revealed Himself to the apostle Paul when he was on his way to persecute believers, and He revealed Himself to me while I was still caught up in drugs and whatnot.

True. It's good to accept Jesus as a child would.

In our country, the majority stand against anything that would even suggest a "command." We demand "rights" to live and act the way we wish, without anyone telling us what we should and should not do.

In contrast, the Ten commandments have direct rules about the way we should live our lives, and they were not written as suggestions.

Almost 80% of Americans believe there is one God, but only around 20% believe there is absolute truth. One study (Barna group I believe) stated that only 1 in 10 people believed ALL of the ten commandments, with 4 in 10 that held belief in 4. (adultry, stealing , murder and lies)

The very first commandment if taken as truth has a direct affect on the other 9. If you believe God to be first and absolute, then the rest are given from One who has the right to do so.

(Every tell your kids that the reason they have to clean their room is because you said so?)

My question is...

Do you believe there is a serious contrast between our generations claim to "rights" and the Law? Would this explain why so many try to remove them from public view?

Dan~~~>just finally figured out why the Ten Commandments are such a hot topic for some "rights" groups (yes, i'm slow)

Nobody had problems with the 10 commandments (Liberal Christians, that is)...obviously, they are the basis for most of our secular laws.

What are you trying to ask? People have certain God given rights, rights that are inalienable. But your rights end where another person's rights begin. It's really that simple.
