Do our pets go to heaven?

okay, when animals die do they go to heaven or are they going to be with us on the "new creation" NO. Will there be animals at all? Yes.

I se from this thread people are speaking of two different places. But if you are speaking of Heaven, then sorry: no dogs!

Revelation 22:15: "For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie."

I don't know, but this thread reminds me of that movie, "All Dogs Go To Heaven." It was an animation, perhaps in the late '80s.

Of course, I also believe we will be so in love with God that our attention will be hard pressed to think of anything else (the glory alone to behold ...wow!), ...but if for some reason we do think of our animals, the bible says God is more than happy to give us the desire of our hearts - and how much more so will He as to fulfill scripture that promises there will be "no pain or crying!"

I really look forward to the Eternal Age. I imagine my cat to eventually be resurrected and soon playing again with the children of God in our new heaven in our renewed Earth - the true place were "life" is blessed and lives forever, and ever. Forever, just as it was; in the Garden of Eden.

I think the souls of our animals do go to heaven, and here's my reason for believing. I had a dog that I had to put down, It broke my heart so, to do this. She had been with me for a good number of years, she showed up the day after I prayed for a dog, She was a wonderful dog, and went everywhere with me. after having to put her to sleep I was so worried about what happened to her soul, was she in heaven I didn't know, but I needed to know she was there. I was having a dificult time dealing with it. So I prayed that if she was in heaven that God would show me somehow that she was. I even told God that I knew he could not let me enter heaven, but I still needed him to show me. Then I had the most troublesome dream, It made me cry.
I was standing somewhere and everything all around was pure white, and my dog was there. She saw me, and I saw her we wanted to get close to each other but couldn't there was some kind of invisible divide between us, and we both knew we couldn't cross over it. I had to pray again and I knew that where she was heaven, and was grateful for that, but I couldn't handle the part about us not being able to reach each other. (because I couldn't enter in, and she couldn't come out) that's just the way it is. I prayed again that God would please give me another dream about memories or old times, where I could pet her, and reach out to touch her. just so I wouldn't be left with such a feeling of seperation. and he did let me have a dream about her and old times where we just sat together enjoying some time together. It made feel better about the other dream. So I can now rest assured she is in heaven, For God sent her to me in the first place, and in time I sent her back to him.

I think they don't. They're like us before the fall; their lives are already effectively paradise. They may feel pain, but they don't *suffer* the way we do.

If I'm wrong, though, I am just going to have to hope that I don't keep my allergies in heaven. I'm *mildly* allergic to cats, but I love them... but if I had *all* my cats in heaven, uhm... I would be unable to breathe.

Dogs In Heaven?

An old man and his dog were walking down this dirt road with fences on both sides, they came to a gate in the fence and looked in, it was nice grassy, woody areas, just what a 'huntin' dog and man would like, but, it had a sign saying 'no trespassing' so they walked on. They came to a beautiful gate with a person in white robes standing there. "Welcome to Heaven" he said. The old man was happy and started in with his dog following him. The gatekeeper stopped him. "Dogs aren't allowed, I'm sorry but he can't come with you."

"What kind of Heaven won't allow dogs? If he can't come in, then I will stay out with him. He's been my faithful companion all his life, I can't desert him now."

"Suit yourself, but I have to warn you, the Devil's on this road and he'll try to sweet talk you into his area, he'll promise you anything, but the dog can't go there either. If you won't leave the dog, you'll spend Eternity on this road."

So the old man and dog went on. They came to a rundown fence with a gap in it, no gate, just a hole. Another old man was inside. "S'cuse me Sir, my dog and I are getting mighty tired, mind if we come in and sit in the shade for awhile?"

"Of course, there's some cold water under that tree over there. Make yourselves comfortable"

"You're sure my dog can come in? The man down the road said dogs weren't allowed anywhere."

"Would you come in if you had to leave the dog?"

"No sir, that's why I didn't go to Heaven, he said the dog couldn't come in.
We'll be spending Eternity on this road, and a glass of cold water and some shade would be mighty fine right about now. But, I won't come in if my buddy here can't come too, and that's final."

The man smiled a big smile and said "Welcome to Heaven."

"You mean this is Heaven? Dogs ARE allowed? How come that fellow down the road said they weren't?"

"That was the Devil and he gets all the people who are willing to give up a life long companion for a comfortable place to stay. They soon find out their mistake, but then it's too late. The dogs come here, the fickle people stay there. GOD wouldn't allow dogs to be banned from Heaven. After all, HE created them to be man's companions in life, why would he separate them in death?"

Like many of you, I have had a pet too, and am saddened by its absence from my life. If God were to recreate my cat in heaven, I suppose I'd go along with it without a thought. However there is nothing in Scripture which implies that my specific pet will be in heaven, and that is where your words, Josephus, bothered me a little.

Can we "fully expect" something God has not specifically promised, much less teach others that it's the Truth? God has promised us the desires of our heart, but He's also told us that man only desires to do evil. (Romans 3) Does that mean God will make heaven evil?

OF COURSE NOT! It means God will change me so that my desire is for Him and Him alone.

We must remember that Scripture is Truth, but when used out of context it not only becomes a lie, but we become false teachers! Remember, those who teach will be judged more strictly (James 3), so we must be wise in our responses. As saved humans, we are in no position to expect anything of God He has not fully assured us of.

HOWEVER AGAIN!

Does that mean my pet won't be in heaven? No, it doesn't. We as God's followers must remember to let God do what God will do. We need only let His Truth be our Truth, without adding or taking away.

The good news is, Heaven will one day be on Earth, and we will all live on the New Earth, and thus everything will be made new - even your animal/pet - but they will live here, on the New Earth - and so will you too! Forever.

Wildlife, As for you're wondering if pets will go to heaven let's see what the Bible has to say about some of this. The Bible is clear where humans go after death:
You might ask, "Is there any place in scripture that says what happens after people physically die?" Yes, there is.

Can the soul die?

but the good news is, Earth will be remade - this certainly includes everything in it, including your dead pets.

And as far as pets go, I just thought they didn't go to Heaven, because they dont have souls.

All sentient beings have a soul wherein they reproduce in kind. Does this means that animals go to heaven? No, because heaven is religion specific. For example, Buddhist don't go to heaven and they probably don't even want to go there. So why would animals want to go to heaven? Do we perhaps want animals to go to heaven because we are lost?

What is the spirit?
Genesis 2:7 tells us what God gave at Creation, "the breath of life." Ecclesiastes 12:7 says, what God gave is the "spirit." You will see that "breath" and "spirit" are used interchangeably in the Scripture. In the poetry of the Old Testament, they often repeat the same thought, but in different words. Job 27:3 makes it very clear that our breath and the spirit of God is the same thing. The word "breath" (7307) in Psalm 104:29 and 146:4 is the same word interpreted "spirit" (word# 7307) in Ecclesiastes 12:7 and Job 27:3 above. Compare Job 33:4 and James 2:26.
What is the soul?
Notice, the Scripture says, man became, or was made, a living soul. The Scripture does not say, God placed a soul into man (Genesis 2:7, Ecclesiastes 12:7, Isaiah 57:16, 1 Corinthians 15:45). The Hebrew word translated "life" in Genesis 1:20,30 is the same word translated as "soul" in Genesis 2:7 (word #5315). So is the Hebrew word translated "living creature" in Genesis 1:21,24; 9:16.
