1 Corinthians 1:18
For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

Indeed.

If you are trying to prove sola scriptura, you're not doing a very good job. So far you have proved that Scripture is good and inspired, which we all agree on.

Would you kindly explain why St. Paul tells us to follow the traditions that were passed on to us? Also, would you explain why the Ethiopian required someone to explain Scripture to him, even though he had read it for himself?

Is this the question you've asked several times?

What if no one has an answer to that particular query? Does discussion have to end then?
HOW can those who have particiapted in this conversation from the beginning not have the answer to this simple question? After all it does demonstrate the reason and the power behind relics and the saints.

Because there is no answer to it. They wish to call us superstitous, pagan, etc., for following a practice clearly documented in the Bible.

How about this---

26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
27 Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.

Lotar: possibly true. But doesn't it behoove us to use what evidences they cannot refute? :) I'll bet most people don't know a thing about Elisha's bones or the miracle connected to them. I was ignorant myself for longer than I care to admit !

That is the drawback about the Christian Forums format, one can simply ignore arguments that one cannot refute. That is the reason I no longer post in GA.

I believe it was Countrymouse who had in her sig, something to the account of, "Try reading the parts of the Bible your pastor didn't tell you to underline. You might be suprised." :D

The first time I attended my priest's Bible study, I was shocked at how ignorant of Scripture I truly am. My first thought was, "I've read this a thousand times over, how did I not see this!" It brings true meaning to the story of the St. Philip and the Ethiopian to me.

That doesn't say sola scriptura. Do you realize that you are reading your pre-supposed ideas into these passages? They don't even hint at sola scriptura.

Now, how about answering my questions? :)

So are you just going to spam this thread? Or are you going to answer the question asked of you?

Obviously, it is time for everyone to unsubscribe from this thread. The question of the origin of the practice of praying to dead people has never been answered, it's been easy to slip off into other subjects, and irritation is running high.

Thanks to all who exchanged ideas with me.

Elisha was promised a double portion of Elijah's Spirit by God.

Elijah did 7 miracles. Elisha did 13 before he died.
