I used to be a good person...only making ocassional mistakes and always wanting to stay on the right track. I have noticed lately I have messed up big time and I'm not sure I can turn back. I always told myself I would try my best to be good and follow Jesus but now I have turned into someone else. I have started drinking and I now feel like I need it. Also I have been stealing money from my mom. I have been wanting to do things with boys and I feel like if I am in a situation with a boy I will not do the right thing. I don't like who I am. I never really have. I just thought that maybe if I become bad or start doing bad things i would like myself more. People make fun of me alot about being so good and I got sick of it...so I guess this is just to show people that I am not a goody good. The only bad thing is that I know God is getting mad at me and I'm so afraid hes going to stop loving me. Also people who I never thought looked up to me are telling me that they once looked up to me. I didnt know people ever looked up to me and now I have disapointed them. I don't like who I have become...I need to know if its possible I can change.

you can change if you turn away from Satan, who is making you dependant on what people think of you. God's love for you in everlasting. We only think he would be mad at us or think that there are limits to his love based on our human understanding of God. He is well above and beyond our understanding. However, if you have faith and are sincere about turning away from Satan, he will forgive you all your sins. I think maybe you are really doing bad stuff, not to like yourself more, but so people will like you. If that is indeed the case, you should not be concerned about what they think of you. They aren't taking you into heaven nor will they give you eternal life. If you really want to change, commit to it, return to Christ. However, if you should slip and fall numerous times along the way, do not lose courage. He will not turn his back on you when you call.

satan put all those thoughts in your head - you have to clean our your mind, repent of the things you are convicted over, and start anew, if your friends dont accept that -- maybe its time for new friends. satan has you believing you dont like yourself, that noone looks up to you etc, well now you know thats not true. Turn away from the father of lies and turn to God and yes, He still loves you!!!
You will be in my prayers.

hi,

While i don't know your background, i do know that i was once your age, and like most people during their teenage/young adolescent years, many thoughts about yourself/the future/others/life etc. are often constantly going on through your head. Your post does express a number of uncertainties. Could i say, do you take these questions of yours to Jesus? Do you open up yourself to him and tell him about these things? Are you honest with God in prayer to him?
I would have to say that i never regretted a time praying to God, who loves you, and who also gave himself up (in Christ) for you.
Pray, read the bible for comfort, talk to people you can confide in.
I would also like to add, that God chastises those he loves, as a father does his children.

Hi Iwannaflyaway. It sounds that you are facing new things in your life.

I'm going to post some verses because it's God's word that can help and guide you.

And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.
(Mar 10:18 KJV)
For

not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.
(2Co 10:18 KJV)

Ye shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God hath commanded you: ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.

Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:

Iwannaflyaway said:
I have started drinking and I now feel like I need it.

Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
(Joh 4:13-14 KJV)

But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.
(Luk 12:45-46 KJV)

(Mat 24:9-10 KJV)

Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.
(Luk 6:22 KJV)

(Joh 5:44 KJV)

Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue: For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

Firstly, a big hug.

I totally understand where you're coming from, but in a slightly different way. I constantly look up to my "old" self, so much so that I think I put myself on a pedestel. When I was about 14, I was (in my eyes) a really good person and a good Christian. Now, I feel like a total failure. I feel like I always let God down and always do things that are not right. I feel like people used to think I was good, and now they must think I'm just a failure cos I always make mistakes.

All these things that we are thinking, they're all lies. I don't think you can compare being 14 and 19, or in your case 17. We're both growing up and experiencing new things, and more difficult situations. We're both trying to find out who we are. It's a confusing time. It's very easy to get sidetracked... And almost impossible not to, I think. So don't blame yourself or put yourself down, or think of yourself as being bad. Because you're not - you're human. The things you're doing might not be greatest in the eyes of God, but we all make mistakes. The good thing is, is that you have realised that what you are doing isn't ideal. That's a lot further than most people get, so I think you're already making some good steps.

You've discovered that doing 'bad' things has not made you like yourself more. What you need to work out is what does make you like yourself more. Try and learn how to be comfortable with yourself. It's a difficult place to get to, but a very valuable one if you can manage it. You're a good person, you're human. You're OK. So don't label yourself as bad, or too much of a failure, or anything like that.

As for God stopping loving you, that's one thing you can be sure of that WON'T happen. God won't ever stop loving you. You're his daughter and he loves you beyond measure. You think he'd send his son to die for you if he was just gonna give up on you half way through? No way. He loves you way too much. He'll never, ever give up on you. Heck, he even has faith in you when you give up on yourself. Just remember that he became a man. He became human. He knows what it's like to want to be liked. He knows the temptations this earth has, and he understands. So you can talk to him about it and not be scared of his reaction. Cos he loves you, and he is not waiting around for you to slip up so he can punish you. He is waiting around for you to look to him so he can love you and help you.

So, I guess my answer to your question is this: You are not beyond help. God is willing to help you more than you can know. You're not a hopeless case. You're simply human, and we all make mistakes. Part of growing up is about finding out who you are, and that's no easy lesson. Try not to be too hard on yourself, and just remember that God understands and he loves you no matter what.

If you want to talk about this more, I'd love to help you. Feel free to PM me at any time. I hope my post was helpful.

Hi Iwannaflyaway , and all ,

Sorry to hear you're having a hard time .

It seems we are all destined to become everything we hate , when we hate with imperfect hatred .

Imperfect hatred is aimed at what someone " is " or " appears to be " , as if they are " locked in " to that very state of " being " / " appearing to be " .

This type of hatred is imperfect because it fails to consider / recognize / acknowledge that we are all ( in our own right ) worthy of God's wrath ; and that only The Lord's Mercy covering our past sins , and His Grace enabling us to be strong against temptation to sin , is what can deliver us from our plight of having a " date " with everlasting destruction .

And Jesus has wrought , and can work this Miraculous Salvation , in the life of anyone who calls upon His Holy Name , in the spirit of godly sorrow and belief in The Gospel of Jesus Christ .

If we have experienced the Blessedness of Salvation already , and then find ourself , being drawn away , we have " left our first love " , and are instructed to -

...I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
<-----> Revelation 2:4+5

" Remember from whence thou art fallen " - ( This you are already apparently being led to do . )

Prayerfully , remember therefore what was the nature and the context of your coming before The Lord seeking His Salvation when faith first began to manifest in your life .

This helps to refresh Christ's Virtue in us , which enables repentance , when we " do the first works " .

Here are some verses which speak of the nature and the substance of " the first works " .

...I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. <-----> 1st Corinthians 2:2

For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. <-----> 2nd Corinthians 7:10

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. <-----> Psalm 51:17

For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. <-----> Psalm 51:3

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. <-----> 1st John 1:9

Apparently , you've already been led in this direction .

My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
<-----> 1st John 2:1+2

And along with these things consider -

The worst thing about being ensnared in sin , is not the sin itself , but the ensuing hindrance from being about The Lord's Work , as the clear conscienced and confident believers which God has called us to become in Christ .

Also note , that this world which is largely under Satan's spell , is continually trying to " advertise itself " , because it seeks it's own glory , and has little reason to expect praise from an independent source which is not a co-conspirator ; but The Spirit of Christ leads us to seek that Glory be given to God , and therefore we , as such , are not " celebrated " like those who are of this world ; but as you saw , people did notice Christ's faith in your life , and they were quietly glorifying God , and not man . And this is the nature of our calling in Christ , that we should maintain a meek and lowly image , so that the Lord's Witness in us , is not corrupted by the vainglory of humanity striving against humanity - for Jesus' Blood was shed for " the sins of the whole world " .

Therefore , remember , when we serve The Lord , He , not we , is The One in the " spotlight " , and our reward is largely " hid in Him " , for the sake of keeping The Gospel free from strife , envy , vanity , and pride .

You're at a vulnerable age and it is very important to return to the faith and deny sinful urges , for it only takes a few errors in judgment , during these times , for one's life to be negatively , and dramatically impacted , in ways which can cause much undesirable and constrictive consequence .

Therefore , prayerfully , with praise being offered to The Lord , refrain from the intoxication which impairs sensible judgment , and can cause one to be numb / dumb enough to trade away that which is truly precious and free , for that which is given to bondage and regret .

Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. <-----> 2nd Corinthians 3:17

For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. <-----> Galatians 5:13

For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
<-----> Romans 8:13-15

And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you . <-----> 2nd Peter 3:15

May The Lord be Pleased to Renew and Refresh His Virtue and His Vision for your God-given life in Jesus Christ . Amen .

Sincerely ,

wm

You can change. Prayer and determination.

Drinking: replace with juice. For the price of alcohol, you could buy a juicer and get creative!

Everyone has addictions. Mine is working. I'll write and study until I'm exhausted. Maybe you can think of a positive addiction like . . .

Sewing? Wood carving? A musical instrument?

The bad thoughts are from Satan. He thinks he can push you around.

Ignore him! Find positive things to do and tell him to get lost!

Chels Chels --

I probably should have told you I looked up to you before. But you've always underestimated how much people love you, you still do. Chels if somebody tells you something like I love you, or God loves you, chances are they mean it. If you take a good look, all these people are saying the same thing that I have. And if all these people are saying the same thing, it's most likely true.

Chels you gotta take a leap and believe somebody for once. You can start with God for one. Put your life into His hands again. Things will get better, you just gotta make a little bit of an effort. Resist Satan's temptations.

Just know this one thing. I will NEVER stop loving you or give up on you. Neither will your other friends. You just gotta trust. First in God, then in yourself, and in time other people.

Talk to you soon, and till then, you're in my prayers

Love ya lots

First, you have to know the Truth about God. He will never, ever, ever, ever, ever stop loving you. There is nothing you can do to make God stop loving you. Romans 8:38-39.

Second, you have to make some hard choices about your behavior. Your drinking is dangerous, and could lead you to worse behavior. Stealing from your mother is sin. I implore you to confess this sin to God and ask Him to help you change.

Third, at your age it is only natural that you would be tempted to get into a physical relationship with boys. Read 1 Corinthians 6 about sexual immorality. It says you were bought with a price, that is Christ's blood on the cross. You do not belong to anyone but God. Honor Him with your body.

It is possible to change. God has given us the Holy Spirit to help us glorify Him with our behavior. If you know Jesus as your personal saviour, you are indwelled by the Holy Spirit. Reading the Bible and praying each day will allow you to be controlled by the Spirit.

God bless.
