Not sure...Why would a hardcore christian want to marry, lets say, a hindu. How would you bring up the children?

My boyfriend (a Christian) and I are going thru these thoughts now - and truly - I can not stand his opinion about how we'd bring our children up if we ever got married.

Live is just full of surprises... I'd have to say - I don't know - I will have to go with what my heart tells me.

It would be nice if a Christian marries a non-Christian. Then afterwards the non-Christian accepts salvation observing the way a Christian lives his/her life. I don’t know what the chances of that are, but that would be good.

^_^ How'd you come up with that... I think it might be vs versa.

I don't know, I only know a few Christians who actually live a life that actually seem Christlike. So, I don't know what the chances are of someone becoming saved in a relationship like that.

You know what I think; I think God can save the non-Christian partner if there is that fervant and effective prayer. If one person really wants her partner to be saved then I guess all he/she has to do is pray. I actually know one lady from my church that recently left the church and came back to church married, with another guy, and it wasn’t late since the guy got saved. Surprisingly he seems more spiritual than the girl. I shouldnt judge but bear with me lol.

Saint Paul tells us that Christians should not marry non-Christians. I go with the Apostle's teachings. Of course, he also says that people shouldn't divorce if they're already married.

May I ask what that opinion is?

Okay.. I'm a little confused... One minute you tell me "well, Jesus says" then you come out and say "Well, Saint Paul says." Apostles vs. God's Son...
His opinion is I will NOT ever go to a Temple again to pray.. I will not be able to share my culture with my children... RIIIIGGGGGHHHHTTT

When you have a question regarding the morality or "correctness" of something is it profitable to refer to the Holy Bible for guidance. There was a passage that directly addressed the OP's question.

What does this mean - I'm not trying ot be rude - I need to understand... Please explain in a Non-Christian way.

That is minor considering the whole "being seperated for all eternity and have their mother thrown into the pit of fire" thing.

Why continue this relationship? Looks like lust is the only reson to keep going from here...

HUUUUUHHHH? what does that have to do with anything?

Our relationship is more than lust, my friend. He's my best friend. We do for each other. WE just don't talk about Religion.. I believe in God - He Believe in God.. and that what count.

It's HIS parents that control his life and thoughts.

You must be confused Saraswati. Sorry if I didn't explain earlier, but Jesus didn't address the issue of interfaith marriage. This isn't a "Jesus vs. apostles" battle (not that any such battles exist). In the Old Testament, Israelites were forbidden to marry non-Israelites, except for those who were willing to become Jews. Christians, unlike the Israelites, are ethnically diverse, so we have no race-based marriage prohibitions. But our religion does say that Christians may not marry non-Christians. I don't know anything about your boyfriend, but maybe he's starting to realize the contradiction between his personal desires and his religious beliefs.

By the way, there's nothing wrong with raising your children in your Trinidadian culture. But according to Christianity, it would be wrong to raise your children as Hindus. Maybe you should ask your boyfriend not to lump your culture and your religion in the same bucket.
